My impression is that it is true. By replacing two smaller units with this one, I have saved money. It would be nice if I could get at least one air unit off my bill. But it saves me energy because it consumes half the amount of energy it took to operate before. It was like I was running half of one old unit since my bill was so low. There's no doubt that I am saving more than I expected!

This product appears to be working well, but arrived severely damaged. I wasn't able to return for a replacement since it is too heavy and inconvenient. I'm extremely disappointed because I spent over $300 on an item that wasn't handled properly.
In the way this unit was packaged, it could have fallen off a truck and still be perfect. The engineering in the packaging was out of this world. After lowering the temperature by 2 degrees within 5 minutes, I found the heat had gone out of my attic. There are 70 degrees inside an hour after the door is closed. The attic is 770 square feet and has a temperature of 98 degrees. tried 2 6000btu portable heaters, but neither could keep the temperature below 88 degrees F. Nowhere else will you find a better deal, do it yourself if you wish it weighs 78 pounds. It's pretty funny to see my stomach muscles etched into the condenser fins. Overall, we are 100% satisfied with the work.
When the first unit was delivered, the back corner had a big dent. However, it made suspicious noises while it was working. In spite of the damage, the box had clearly been repaired and sent out. Boxed it back up, shipped it back, wait for it to come in. One is in very good shape the other is in a fair A rattle and squeak can be heard around it. I suspect it is around 78 decibels when it is running at maximum The unit is pretty heavy, particularly toward the rear, the sealing part is about 4 inches from the front and about 30% of the total length, so I purchased an AC Window Bracket ( multiple models on Amazon ) and mounted that to prevent the unit from being transported only by the frame. In addition to supporting the AC during installation, the bracket also enables the AC's heavier rear end to rest on the bracket instead of being supported by just the window frame. I am very happy with the purchase so far. It is going to get a lot of use with this weather, so I bought the extended warranty for 4 years. My office is near the unit, and with the door open, it can cool my office as well as another bedroom and the hall. A regular Window Frame will fit it, and you should also get 3m Silicone Seal Strip, Weather Stripping for Door or Window, Weatherproof Soundproof Self Adhesive in order to seal the unit at all joints so no cold air escapes and no hot air enters.

The Whirlpool works EXACTLY the same as the Magic Chef which costs 70 bucks less, but the Magic Chef is also the same in regards to the TINY LED readout which cannot be seen Even though I dislike the two LG's I have, the LED on the AC is very bright and big, and I can see it from across the 25 foot room. Here's the short version of the article. There is nothing wrong with this Amazon Basics AC except for the LEDs on the unit being small and dim, and the REMOTE buttons appear to be The reason for this is that there are TOO MANY FUNCTIONS. You will not save much electricity by using the ECO function. The DRY function is for just taking the humidity out of the air without cooling it and so on. The Auto function is for adjusting the speed. I've never used it. The meaning of that is only known to God. A remote that indicates Cool, Fan Only, Low, Medium and High, as well as the speed of the fan would be perfect. That's all there is to it. limits the number of functions of the remote control, and the TINY LED's on the AC itself are TOO DIM and TOO SMALL, rendering the remote useless. As I am right next to the AC unit, I can't see what the setting is. Because of this, I just go to the AC It is easy for me to see well. The LED's are not visible in my house unless you stand directly in front of the air conditioning. SO, it is a darn good AC when it comes to cooling a 12x25 foot area, however, I HATE the LED readout so much, that I am taking away two stars for the LED readouts on the unit and the complicated remote. I think this is a great price! It is very cool to me. LG's are in my bedrooms because the AC readouts can be seen from my bed, which is more than 20 feet from the LG's. Unlike how other reviewers have described this AC, I do NOT find it as loud as they have. There are no differences in sound levels between the Whirlpool and this one. Easy installation.
It takes a couple of minutes. It does not have a slide in chassis, but two people can lift the unit up and force it into the window without any problems. The small me and the big wife managed to make It is well worth the low price if you do not have to look at the LED's.
After it had arrived, I waited for it to settle so that all the oils and freon would be properly absorbed. It was no problem for me or my nephew to install it. It's really nice how the white is crisp and clean. It was very challenging to learn all the little symbols in the manual, but I think the remote will prove to be very handy once I figure everything The heat in Texas is unbearable, so I'm glad to not be surrounded by it.
