Questions & Answers

This unit belongs to what Daiken series or model? Is it a natural phenomenon such as the aurora borealis?

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what model you're talking about. However, the heater performs admirably until the temperature falls below 40 degrees. In addition, the air conditioner is excellent. It was also quite simple to put together.

Is it possible for this unit to work in a negative environment?

Not in the least. You'll require additional heating. Negative temps aren't the target audience.

Will this unit work in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit?

Of course.

Is it possible to regulate humidity without regard to temperature?

It doesn't have a setting for relative humidity, but it does have a drying mode. In addition, while in cooling mode, it will run at the lowest capacity possible for any given temperature setpoint in order to allow for a long runtime and maintain humidity control.

It's a LIE to say that listing is a good idea
3/5

As a result, I placed an order for an 18000 BTU unit. The price seemed reasonable, especially considering it was a Diken. I was blown away by how quickly it arrived (I had expected it to arrive later the following week). After pouring a concrete foundation for it, it was time to install a few days later. br>br>As I started unpacking the unit, I noticed that the insulated coil was not as shown in the picture or described in the listing. I also noticed that the installation package(pass-) was missing. via support, drain hose, tape, and whatever else was in the photo/listing). The insulated hose had to be flared and was ten feet longer than advertised, which was a problem. br>br>At this point, I emailed the seller and placed an order for a 18,000 BTU heat pump system with an installation kit. There is no mention of brazing the line on the Amazon listing, and the pictures show that the refrigerant lines already have flared ends for easy installation. Aside from those issues, the extended drain line and the pass-through are both missing. As shown in the picture of the installation parts, there is a through wall protector and an extra wrap. Please assist me with these issues, as I was planning on starting the installation today. And here's what they had to say: br>br> (Please note that those photos are not under our control, as stated in the listing. ) We would gladly send you a drain line or we can simply provide a $30 refund and you can obtain all of those items locally as it is pvc, we do not carry those small items. This is NOT a DIY install, so we do not carry the line with flared ends as it will void your warranty; we also send 25ft instead of 15ft because it is never recommended to use a line set that short; we would gladly send you a drain line or we can simply provide a $30 refund Please let us know how you'd like to go about it. Thank you very much for your patronage. br>br>At this point, I'm not happy, so I contact Amazon customer service, who also looked at the seller's listing, which stated that it would include the correct components and not be so off-kilter. Not long after, I received a phone call reiterating the above message, along with an offer to reimburse me for the cost of a compatible kit. Because I needed to install this kit, I chose to accept the refund and order the proper installation kit. br>br>So, if you're reading this, just know that you won't get anything like what's shown in the photos or what's written in the listing. A generic line kit as well as the actual A/C unit (inside and outside units) will be sent to you. I'll update the listing once I receive the new line kit and see how it performs. Hopefully, this information will assist someone in making a decision. P. br>br>P. br>br>P. br>br>P. S I should have gotten the Mr. Cool unit because it comes with everything you need to get started.

The line sets that were provided were not flared properly, which cost me an additional $350
3/5

The line set provided was defective, allowing a Freon leak to occur, resulting in hundreds of dollars in additional costs to have the system recharged by an AC installer. The flares on the 1/2 line were flared incorrectly, resulting in a poor seal and a Freon leak due to the reduced surface area. All of this was a waste of time and money. I believe that before selling their line sets to customers, Heat and Cool vendors should sample them to ensure quality.

This is an excellent unit at an excellent price. br>br>Recently, I put in a multi-room audio system. I bought this for my workshop after installing a Daikin unit in my home. It's fantastic, and I'm very pleased with it. I recently purchased a new one.

The installation is not entirely do-it-yourself
4/5

Overall, I think this is a great system. I did the majority of the work myself, but I do wish it had come with a nice template poster to aid in the interior system's mounting process, as some of the other DIY systems do. It wasn't easy for me to mount my system so high on my wall. The rest of the installation, on the other hand, was a breeze. After connecting the lines to the interior unit, I had an HVAC technician vacuum the lines and make the final connections. While I had hoped to avoid having to hire someone to do this, it gives me more faith in the system. I purchased a 24k BTU system and installed it in my garage/workshop. So far, everything appears to be running smoothly. On a 95-degree day outside, I can cool the shop to around 74 degrees in about an hour and a half and keep it there all day. One oddity is that the air conditioner never seems to turn off. I'm not sure if it's just the fan that's always on or if it's necessary to keep the temperature at a certain level. This system is one that I recommend, but please plan ahead of time and take your time with it.

A complete kit offers unbeatable value and price
5/5

It's a very nice system and a good value now that it's fully installed. I have three Daikin Mini Splits, two of which I installed myself, and the third which I bought from an Amazon seller. Since this is the first one, it took two days to complete, but it's not difficult to install yourself if you have the necessary skills and tools. It will save you around $1,600. It arrived in less than a week from Florida truck freight (I'm in the Northwest), so it's very quick; the only special tool required is a vacuum pump to purge the system and check for leaks before releasing the Freon. br>br>However, there were a couple of minor issues that I encountered. The seller neglected to include the wall channel trim, but once I informed them, they promptly shipped it. Even though there was still a week's delay, they sent a nice Almond-colored kit. br>br>The other issue is that they include a 4 wire 14ga harness that connects the outside unit to the inside unit, which had preinstalled spade ends on one side and a broken connection, so when I tried to install it, the inside unit wouldn't turn on, and I assumed it was defective. I called the seller's tech line, and they quickly helped me figure out what was wrong. I checked both sides and found 120v on both wires, but they advised me to check between the two hots for 240v, which I did not have. The unit came to life and worked perfectly after a quick repair with a new crimp connector. So, I guess I'd recommend double-checking the preinstalled ends, or simply replacing them all to be safe. br>br>The Freon lines were flared and 15 feet long, exactly as stated in the advertisement. However, they were too long for my needs, so I had to shorten them and do a single flare, which was a simple process. This is addressed in the Daikin instructions as well. br>br>The inside unit case on this unit is a little strange. For about $300 more, you can get the 18seer unit, which has a much better inside case, but for my needs, it's just fine, and I like saving money, so I couldn't see where going from 17 to 18 seer was worth the extra cost. br>br>Other than that, you'll need an AC outside disconnect box protected by a 20amp fuse and a 12-volt battery. There are two wires and a power whip in this set. I also like to use a Mars 83905 HVAC Surge Protective device to keep the electronics safe. All of these were bought on Amazon. I installed the 18,000 unit, but it will work for the 24,000 as well. I believe that the smaller units require 15 amp protection. br>br>Overall, the value and customer service are both 5 stars.
