By my water heater, there is a ventilation duct. Because the a/c exhausts air to the outside, the air is drawn through that to the a/c. I had a light smoke smell in my apartment, so I bought an air filtration device that I plug in near where the air is drawn in through the water heater ventilation. That appeared to help, but at worst, there was a faint smoke odor, and the particulate matter was removed by the air filter.

I'll list some advantages and disadvantages, but if you want to use this in a bedroom or expect it to last, the disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages. br>br>Pros: br>1) It's actually quieter than the competition. When you switch from fan to cool mode, the compressor does not become noticeably louder. I had hoped to use it for something like this. br>2) The control pad and remote are both attractive and simple to operate. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. 1) It turns off the fan when the temperature is reached, making it completely silent. The compressor is turned on and off in most models, but the fan remains on. With this one, you won't be able to do that. Even though it's quiet, when it turns on and off, it's too distracting. This is a fatal flaw in the system. br>2) It has a filter on the interior airflow path to protect the cooling fins, but no filter on the airflow path to the exhaust host, and I'm sure dust will clog up the fine radiator fins in the lower section because there is no filter there. Filters are present on all other models I've seen. This is a fatal flaw in the system. br>br>I strongly advise you not to buy this because it has two fatal flaws. It only receives two stars because it performs as expected and is a functioning air conditioner.

Also, make sure you choose the right type of water drainage for your setup. br>br>The drainage hose should be placed in one of two locations. br>br>One gathers inside the unit until it is completely filled, at which point an alarm sounds and the machine shuts down. Then roll the unit outside to a location where the hose can drain the water. br>br>The other hose is for a continuous drain into a bucket, pan, or floor drain. Don't mix them up or you'll end up with water on the floor. br>br>I decided on the collection option. However, I have yet to have to drain it. When the collector was full, I planned to empty it into a bowl or pan and roll it to the door. Apart from that. br>br> The remote control is in good working order. It's a waste of time. Everything is included, including the foam and attachments. Set-up in general It took 20 minutes to get up, and you can feel the room cool down almost immediately.
