Since we had to empty it less often, we had less waste It was very rare that we ever got into any serious trouble, and when we did it was only a little bit. On our usual weekly check for it, we found that there wasn't even a need to do that since at the end of the week, we only had a few drops of water left that needed to be disposed. I bought this portable air conditioner as a result. My goal has been to have something portable that I can take with me from room to room whenever I need it. It was love at first sight when I opened the box! Air is blown through a vent on the side instead of a top vent. The fan covers can be moved up and down and you can set this unit to do it for you automatically! I think the only thing I don't like about it is how it sounds like a regular a/c As long as I turn the TV up and ignore it, it's fine. There are wheels on it and finger grips, so you can roll it or pick it up to move it however, it is a bit heavy at 75 pounds. Setting it up with the exhaust tubing and parts for the window and you can connect them to the window behind or next to this unit was very easy. My primary purpose for buying the dehumidifier was to use it as a dehumidifier, but the heat/ac feature made it even nicer. However, it doesn't have a great deal of ability to eliminate humidity, and it seems to perform similarly to an ac on a dry setting. Due to the pumping out of cold air on the dry setting, this is not a dehumidifier that can easily be used outside unless the weather is warm, and it is not suitable for rooms that are moist. A week later, I bought a real dehumidifier in addition to two of these. There may be an issue with this product's ability to manage humidity or maybe the humidity in our house just exceeds what two of these could handle, but if I were to buy it based on its ability to handle humidity, I wouldn't buy it. There are small windows side by side that replaced old sliders, and we had to cut the plastic piece to fit each machine. It is an easy to use product, easy on the eyes, but it could definitely be improved in terms of functionality and design.
It was so deflating and frustrating to buy it after reading so many good reviews. It was so hard for me to stick with it for three weeks.
