Others have already noted that there is a drain plug in the back that drains the condensate. A unit such as this, however, is designed to evaporate the water and expel it as humid air through the exhaust hose. It should only need to be drained at the end of the season, except in very unusually humid conditions. After two summer seasons of thick humidity and hot weather, I have never been required to drain my unit. In the process of keeping the condensation collector empty, the "mist" technology works perfectly. It is also important to note that you cannot overflow the condensation collector accidentally If the drain pan is full, an LED alarm will allegedly be displayed, and the unit will immediately stop unless the drain pan is emptied. I just wanted to be safe. My water rarely runs out, and after every season I drain it according to the instructions, there was no water in the reservoir. I am very pleased with this air conditioner.
There is something wrong with this answer. A window kit has two pieces that slide into each other. There are 20 of them each. If your window measures more than 20 inches, you should limit the space to 5 inches. A window that is narrower than 30 inches or a bit wider will not fit because the second piece cannot cover the vent opening because it's 5 inches long and needs to have an extension. In my case, you would have to cut a piece off of the slider and you do not have the tools to do that, so you would have to jerryrig another way to get the venting system working. Two pieces that are 20 do not make sense to me either. A curtain that covers a width of 5 inches would cover a wider opening than 40 inches, so the manufacturer's claim of 59 inches is mathematically untrue.
The wattage was not given, however it would depend on what temperature you set it to. It is rated at 15 amps, could not find the actual wattage. Assume that it runs 12 hours a day at a constant speed. Electricity is priced at 13 cents per kwh on average, according to the National Energy Information Administration. If you multiply 15A by 120, you get 1800 watts times 12 hours, which is 21,600 watts. A day's worth of energy is six kwh. 2$ is 6*13. A day's work for an employee is $81
How do you seal a window was a question asked in one of the responses. An Amazon product that slides out of the way is a zippered window casing. If you don't know what you need to do to seal the gap between our horizontal windows, then stop by any local hardware store. All it takes is an opening large enough to release the hose fully, and you can close it up the rest.

It takes too much space for the exhaust hose to extend. You cannot put the tube against a wall, it must be placed in the middle of the room, or the hose will overheat. According to the instructions, the tube should not have hard angles. It is very easy for the exhaust pipe to pop off the window fixture if you move the unit at all. Massive gaps in the window fixture allow light and air to penetrate the room from outside. This hose is so opaque that it allows all the light from the street into the room and glows brightly, creating a night light effect. Then, in the morning, when the sun comes up, you will be awakened by it. When the unit is in the lowest temperature, it is so loud that it is causing a restless night when put on the lowest temperature. Despite the thermostat on the unit being able to go down to 64 degrees, the room does not get cooled very well. As and when the plastic on the unit is in contact with dust, it picks up enormous amounts of dust. Because the plastic carries a static charge, it accumulates The portable air conditioners I have had in the past haven't been I would recommend that you look elsewhere if you're in need of a portable unit. My return is in and I will return mine as well.
The portable air conditioner (8,000 BTU) I purchased about a week ago has only been used a few times so far but in the short time I've had it I have been extremely happy with it all you need is a little elbow grease and some common sense. Blowing cold air, it looks great, and it makes a great noise Perfectly packaged, the order was delivered on time. Despite being packaged in a way that provides excellent protection, the box itself is not very sturdy. This is an awesome buy for a very reasonable price (I saw a lot of reviews before purchasing the product, and there were many issues with delivery and broken parts upon opening the box). A brief update The a/c is still working well as of April 8, 2019. I have used it a handful of times for a small amount of time and I have used it for more than two weeks There is a/c in the room. The problem is! I would not recommend buying this unit if you live in a humid climate! I am unable to get the dehumidifier to work! It took me several attempts to get the water out of the unit after I unplugged it, took it outside, and tipped it left and right manually. There was a lot to do. Please don't worry about me - my room stays at a normal 65% humidity level It is a combination of three damp rid hangers and a miniature The exhaust hose from my room goes directly outside, so my room stays very THEN IT GETS HOT and humid. The unit dehumidifies well, so I was thrilled to see it since I live in Florida. There's no truth to that. I also had to open the unit to clean the inside, because it was pretty dirty, but it was quick and easy to open and maintain as well. I love how well the air conditioner works. To get the best performance from the unit, I recommend cleaning it from the inside.
It was so fortunate that I was at home when the fire broke out. It could have been a catastrophic one. When it does what it says, I do not recommend it. The wall plug has never caused any problems with any other device I have ever plugged into it.
It was used for about 4 months before it stopped dumping the water into the reservoir. When you leave it for more than a day without tipping it over in a giant bin to drain the water out, it now sounds like a waterfall. Leaving it for a day will lead to it overflowing with water, so you'll come home to a soaked ground. That's just 15% of the job, what a bummer! I live in an area that has 30% relative humidity. A simple tip over causes water to spill, but the reservoir where the water would normally go is.
Since I haven't had any trouble getting it hot enough to use, I haven't needed to use it much. Just wanted to mention that this comes with 3 panels and that with some improvisations I was able to use this in a sliding glass door without purchasing a kit specifically for it. The maximum length of the window kit is claimed to be 59" however, I made my windows It's not clear if I received an extra piece or not.
As of May 2019, this is the official update The site is still up and running a year later It was only used at night all year, even during the winter. The water reservoir has not yet had to be replaced, only the filter needs to be cleaned. This is what happened on May Having just installed it today, I can't rate the durability of the product, which is why I have only given it four still a long way away from where I want to be. Having bought the rug for a room that gets the most direct sun and stays 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house, I can say no apologies. Despite its size, it's a dreary Included in the set are all the components needed for the window, including all the hoses. I was able to follow the instructions and install this product without any difficulty even as an older individual. I was able to cool down the room very quickly and feel comfortable in it.
MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY! Make sure to save the box in case there are any problems with this unit. It is within 2 months since I purchased it. The unit sat upright for over 24 hours upon receiving it, as suggested, before we plugged it in and started using it. For the first month, it worked fine and then started spitting water out of the top grate as a result of some issues. Before it spit water, it had been in use for just over two months. In the air, there was a lot of water. Although my unit was so new that I was forced to work with Black and Decker for warranty, I purchased the warranty from Amazon. The problem with Black & Decker is that it isn't easy to deal with. I had to search for hours for the right person to call because the number I was given was not related to After months of trying to get a hold of someone, I managed to speak to someone. I received a claim submission from them. A week later, 8 days after my original call, I receive a call from the company telling me they will replace my current unit provided that I return my old unit in the same container. I do not have the original box, but it looks nice. My storage space was very limited and I didn't have a place to put the big box. I am now waiting for them to figure out how to give me the original box since I do not have one. In the event of getting a unit that works perfectly, this is a great unit, but if you happen to get one that has issues, it is very difficult to work with Black and Decker. For this reason, I am giving it just one It would be reasonable to expect the until to last more than.
