Questions & Answers

What is the voltage of the 120 volt outlet that this plugs into? Do you need a 240 volt connection for it?

In my case, it is connected to a standard 120 volt outlet, and it works perfectly.

How much time does it take to remove the exterior screen in the window for this unit to function?

There would be no need to remove it. The window molding fits well into the window thanks to the thickness of the plastic. A hole is formed in the center of this piece to attach the exhaust hose. As a matter of fact, I'd absolutely suggest that you keep the screen on to keep insects out. Yours will be just as great as mine has been!

Is there a solution for a vertical window whose height is about 65 inches? What exactly is included in your system? Would it be 59 inches?

A plastic peg is inserted into the holes to hold the window piece in place, then the window piece can be extended or made smaller as needed.

Can the exhaust hose be extended by 10 feet and would this cause any problems. What should I do if I have concerns about condensation building up or overheating?

The extension I made was ten feet long and I haven't encountered any There is a dehumidifier in it, so plan accordingly.

DO NOT PLUG THIS IN UNTIL YOU READ THIS! This is important
3/5

This is my first time purchasing an I was first drawn to this at the top of the carton. In the event that the Air Conditioner has not been stored or transported in an upright position, it is important to wait at least 24 hours before using it. A mention of this fact isn't found anywhere in the instructions. There was one lying on its side in the FedEx truck when I noticed it. The temperature is 108 degrees here today, and I have 87 degrees in my living room when I use our evaporative cooler. I wonder how many negative reviews are due to people who didn't notice/heed this advice. The wait until tomorrow is fine with me. People who purchase AC units online need to know this, in my opinion. Your unit may have ended up on its side somewhere along the way. I will update my review when I get a chance. It's just something I wanted to make public. Hope you have a good time!.

Taking a look back at two months
5/5

After testing this product for about 2 months, I have the following findings to share with you. 1) It is a small AC for a 14,000 BTU, so it will save you a lot of 2) The sliding window panels used to connect to the vacuum cleaner-looking attachment don't seem sturdy enough. The plastic pieces tend to bend when trying to connect. Luckily I had my old window set up from my 12k BTU Amana portable AC which was great and tougher. It would be helpful if B&C were included It would be ideal if those sliding window panels were

3) it blows ICE WATER cold when it's working optimally, but there's a catch. A fan on this unit seems to be very sensitive to obstructions in the airway behind it. Immediately after running it for a day or two, I noticed the fans began to malfunction to the point where they sounded broken, and I had to shut them down. The screen was removed and I started it up again, and the computer worked perfectly. My further test was to put a piece of towel over a small portion of one of the fins at different points. The fans began to malfunction immediately. This is a give-to-me kind of gift Getting rule with a 14k BTU AC this small is not easy because of its small size. You have to keep the screen CLEAN all the time. always wash it before I use it, and I have never had any problems with the fan reverting to malfunction. It blows very cold when clean, and it does it on any fan setting. ****4) the remote does a good job, it can pick up the signal without you having to face it, and all the options work instantly. 5) The unit is equipped with powerful fans capable of blowing air ten feet in the air Depending on how you adjust the louvers, your height can be increased or decreased by 15 feet. With this unit, I was able to cool a 400 square foot room that was 80 degrees down to 67 degrees in a half hour. This is a great little air conditioner that will run all night long. **6) If you are lazy, don't buy this to get optimal performance you must clean it/drain the water etc more often, but the reward is that it works like a charm.

Air conditioner works like a charm! In a nutshell, The air conditioner is of excellent quality! It's the first time I have ever used an external air conditioner (I have always had central air conditioning), so I was a little nervous on how to install it and hoping I would get a good one, but I'm so glad I did! As for the sound, it's not too loud but no air conditioner is really quiet
5/5

You can view a photo and video of how loud it is by clicking here. On the cooling settings, the rate of fan is at its lowest in the video.

It's kind of cool to have a unit that you can set up and leave
4/5

The first thing to mention is that I'm not constantly a fan of B+D. It doesn't really matter who built the unit, but who markets and supports it, because, as with most GIANT brand names, it doesn't necessarily mean who built As far as I know, this has 90% of the same internals as an LG TV. well known for its portable/window AC units, as is It's not that I'm an idiot, but there are so many things about this product that either don't make a whole lot of sense or are done in an unnecessary way (to reduce costs). Though to be fair, I have never dealt with a portable AC unit before, so maybe they all behave like this to some degree )
br>To start, we have the issue of the window vent blocking plate. As I live in an old house with small windows, I had to cut one of the panels so as to give myself the right amount of space. As you can see, this is some pretty heavy plastic, and I do not believe it is reasonable to expect the typical consumer to be able to cut this. The hacksaw worked perfectly. Then, you need to secure each of the telescoping panels (basically shallow "C" channels) to one another with screws, so it becomes one piece. An AC unit like this is meant to be portable. In order for me to move it from room to room, I'd have to buy it with the intention of moving it, as it's not likely that every window will be the same size, and changing the size of the plate is not an easy process. It would have been nice to see the window plate designed with more thought. Fortunately, I have an attic space to keep it - An even slightly warm day can quickly reach extremely hot temperatures in the bedroom, and despite the central AC's best efforts, it cannot keep up. Another complaint relates to the remote, and the overall way of using the machine. The top/face of the machine has the love button that can be used to select from several options. A hate-filled person It consists of capacitive touch buttons that lack tactility and sound instead of providing tactile feedback. The system works, whatever the case may be. Everything other than turning it on and off and up and down requires the remote, which seems to transmit discrete commands for each incremental increase or decrease in temperature, so that the temperature displayed on the remote is always "in sync" with the unit, as long as you change the temperature at least once. The infrared signal is the only thing that needs to be sent- Signal type is the only one. It's setting the sleep/wake timer that causes the greatest amount of confusion. It doesn't seem to make any sense to me after reading the directions. The only time I use it is when I wake up and before I go to bed, after which I find another gripe to be of great importance, this is the fact that the While I understand that air movement is necessary for an AC unit to work, with the fan running at its lowest setting (which is useless because it does not push the cool air far enough towards me) the unit makes too much noise for me to keep it running in the evening. While I probably would be able to get around this by moving it to the other side of the room, I don't want to move it (yet) so I just put up with it for now. The picture of the exhaust vent is incorrect since it gets connected to an ovular-shaped thing and then vents out the window, and the filter does not slide out, instead you snap the back of the holder off, and snap the filter off. We're seeing the wild side of marketing again. The blower does blast out quite a bit of cool air rather quickly, however, and it's working to maintain a fairly large, low-pressure zone A comfortable 74 degrees in the ceiling of the attic bedroom even as it hovers around 100 degrees outside, so I have to credit it. The air hose coming out the back) and pitch the vents so it still blows as if it were It might be helpful to share a little bit of the cool air with other family members or guests when you live in a larger space. Therefore, why do you think this is a better alternative to Instead of grappling with big drippy, rusty rectangles and angle brackets and screwing into the stucco, I can simply pull out the plate and roll it into the closet at the end of our two month summer, and let it sit for about 10 months. It will be interesting to see if the atomization of water dehumidifies as well as other processes. There is a promise in the manual that the unit only needs to be emptied once at the end of the season, but it also says the sleep timer will work. I've learned a few things after living with this unit for a couple of very hot weeks in one season after another * It's pretty likely that the water tank built into the unit will fill up and To avoid this problem, I tied the included clear plastic tube to the underside/back side of the unit and raised it above the floor on a durable little platform. You can now drip it as you please - Put that in a small trash can just in case you forget to check it, *Rather than mounting the exhaust port to the wall, we use a hole in the wall that used to be the exhaust port for a heater mounted on the wall that is now the vent. With this setup, I was able to get it exceptionally close to the wall, and even reduced the collapsible hose in size by about 33%. Now that there is less heat emanating from the hose, it is less hot. In addition, since the path is shorter, it is easier for it to release warm air. A large spike in power may occur from time to time, causing it to trip the breakers. I should acknowledge that the wiring in my old home was pretty skeezy. My room does not get cooled off while I'm there to watch it, but only when I'm gone, so when I arrive back I find an 85 degree, muggy room. No trip has been detected by the GFCI yet. My main concern is the fact that these single hose units actively discharge cooled air and create negative pressure, and I'm searching for a more sensible solution -we entirely agree That's a very good idea to connect fresh, outside air to this thing, effectively making it a dual hose system. ***I will share more with you on that topic* **But, it is still running strong after being put into, and taken out of, the closet dozens of times and sitting unused for months and months.
