Questions & Answers

What is the size of this unit in terms of square footage?

I was intrigued by this air purifier until I ran the numbers for 1200 feet at 1X ACH (air change per hour) and standard 8-foot ceilings. A CADR of only 160 cfm (cubic feet per minute) is the result. This is equal to 272 cmh (cubic meters per hour) when converted to meters. This is a very low number. A minimum of 4X ACH is recommended for allergy sufferers, limiting this unit to a 300 square foot space. To put things in context, if you wanted 4X ACH in a 1200 sq ft room, you'd need a CADR of 640 cfm, which I believe exceeds the testing's limits. You won't find an air purifier with such a high CADR. However, there are a few CADR examples of large room air purifiers: Sharp FX-Medify 112 Avg CADR = 433 cfm, Medify 112 Avg CADR = 433 cfm, Medify 112 Avg CADR = 4 J80UW has an average CADR of 340 cfm, IQ Air Healthpro has an average CADR of 300 cfm, Blueair 211 has an average CADR of 350 cfm, and Oransi EJ120 has an average CADR of 341 cfm. If you can handle the noise, this is their rating at their maximum speed!

Why does it say 100% clean air when it was just turned on out of the box ?

Mine kicked into a higher speed as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as well I've been satisfied with it throughout my current kitchen remodel, which included tearing down plaster, drywall installation, and the delivery of 20 kitchen cabinets from a filthy warehouse. The air quality had deteriorated, as indicated by the filter on auto. when down to 30% with cabinet delivery - and kicked into higher speeds to clean as soon as it goes below 95% So far, it has exceeded my expectations.

Where can replacement filters be purchased?

No filters were available, which I also noticed. I'd been keeping an eye on the Shark part replacement website and noticed that replacement filters were now available, so I ordered two (we have two units) for $100 each today. I figured I'd be fine until August because the air filter says to replace it every six months.

What effect does this have on a teen boy's room odor?

What does it smell like? Dead hookers, urine, marijuana, poopy diapers?

Filters are currently unavailable due to a shortage of supplies

On Amazon, I couldn't find any replacement filters for the shark. br>I looked up filters on Shark and they're out of stock, plus they're in the $80-$100 range. Hepa filters cost 110 dollars each.

Control of quality is lacking
3/5

Out of the box, this item was defective. I was shocked to discover that this high-priced air purifier had a defect right out of the box- The purifier's air quality feature (which was a major selling point) was non-functional. it is useful To its credit, Shark's phone support was responsive, but all troubleshooting methods failed to resolve the problem. br>br>It's also worth noting that this unit (as of July 2021) has no CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) rating. This indicates that the unit's cubic feet air filtration has not been independently verified. It is therefore impossible to compare the product to other air purifiers or to confirm the manufacturer's claim that it can filter up to 1200 square feet. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> So, it turns out that this unit's air sensor can be accessed by removing a single-screw-secured cover on the back of the unit. Before sending the unit back to Amazon for a refund, I wanted to double-check that the air sensor had not become disconnected. I discovered that the air quality sensor's data cable had been disconnected from the purifier. However, when I went to reconnect the cable, I discovered that the data cable and air sensor connector ports were completely different (i. e. incompatible on a physical level (Please see the illustration). br>br>The unit arrived in perfect physical condition, with no visible signs of damage and no audible rattling parts, so I can only assume that someone at the shark factory: (i) failed to install an adapter part required to connect the unit to the air sensor, or (ii) installed an incompatible air sensor, and (iii) failed to perform even the most basic type of quality control before shipping the unit. br>br>Because this appears to be a new-to-market air purifier, I strongly advise people to wait until Shark improves their quality control and obtains independent CADR testing of the unit before purchasing it.

Although this is a large air filter, it has some limitations
4/5

This unit is tall, reaching a height that is higher than my hip. It's fairly quiet, and only at its highest speed setting does the sound become somewhat distracting. It appears powerful due to its size and the number of fans (6) it contains, but it's difficult to say how powerful it is, and nowhere in the shark literature or videos do I see a specific room size that this is intended for, leaving the customer to guess. br>The remote control is very responsive, and the filter is simple to use. Cleaning the internal behind the filter with a vacuum and possibly a cloth every two months, according to the literature, is recommended, but no cleaning products are recommended. According to the digital display, my filter has been used for 4,400 hours, and the unit appears to keep track of this. I haven't seen any filters for these yet; perhaps they haven't been released yet because they didn't show up in a search. br>Rather than telling you how to use this unit (which is very simple and easy to do if you watch the video provided by Shark), I think I'll tell you what it lacks that makes it less than it could be at this price point and by this awesome brand name SHARK. Personally, I am a big fan of their cutting-edge products.
1. This air purifier isn't smart; you can't use it with apps or connect it to the internet. While you're away from home, you won't be able to see any graphs or statistics. This appears to be a no-brainer decision. Many excellent filters with excellent app functionality are available for less than half the price.
2. There is no kid safe mode, which means you can't lock the screen so your toddler or your cousin's toddler can mess around with the settings for as long as they want. I'm constantly turning it on and off. Yes, it is inconvenient; I'm not sure why there isn't a child lock mode. br>The particle filter statistics are pretty cool; you can toggle through the display to see how much PM1 (tiny viruses or allergens) and PM2 (large particles) is present. PM 5 (dust, mold, and bacteria), and PM 10 (smoke and bacteria) - However, I think it would be better to see these stats on an app, not just in real time, but on some sort of graph. br>Overall, I think this is a good air filter, but it is also expensive and lacks some very common features that other, much less expensive units have.

The product isn't working
3/5

Always reads 100% in a clean environment. The item isn't functional. even with heavy dust and pets in the room reads 100% clean as well as well as well as well as well as well as well as How can the machine have dust settling on it after one day and say the air is 100%? Please let me know if there is a way to reset or fix it. I was extremely disappointed.
