I have the Tredy and WSTA purifiers, which are very similar. This one is made with a higher level of craftsmanship. The filter is beautifully constructed. Larger particles are captured admirably by the nylon mesh prefilter. I've never understood why the carbon filter is referred to as a prefilter by manufacturers. It should be kept separate from the rest of the house, much like this purifier. It's also a good idea to put the carbon filter last so it doesn't get clogged. Its function is to eliminate odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Dust and allergens aren't a problem. They put a lot of thought into it. Also, the carbon filter is made up of granulated charcoal pieces. It isn't a thin piece of paper. It's a well-thought-out piece. I'm going to get a couple more for each room. ***UPDATE 2**

It does an excellent job and is extremely quiet when set to "sleep. " When I go to sleep, I usually leave it on "1" with the display lights turned off (which is a nice feature). I've already vacuumed the fine dust out of the prefilter, and there is ZERO dust in the purifier (a sign of a good seal around the filter and the body of the unit). It keeps my bedroom free of dust and allergens by running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As time goes on, I'll keep you updated. ***UPDATE**

***UPDATE***b The odor of plastic has vanished entirely. The dreadful vibration has died away, and everything is now very quiet. In addition, the filters are significantly less expensive than those of other brands. I'm less congested in the mornings, and the air quality has improved noticeably. I am unable to comment on the remaining filters. I'm only using the purifier's "standard" that came with it. If it weren't for the bad first impression, this would be a five-star product. Furthermore, the vast majority of the other reviews are fictitious. Some are even using the same photos with different backgrounds and user names (I'm sure they'll edit the photos out after reading this). Overall, this purifier is adequate. Allow a few days for the process to complete. not hours. br>br>For the first few days, there was a HORRIBLE off gassing of plastic. The odor has dissipated to some extent. It moves a lot of air, but it vibrates a lot. I'm going to wait a few days before returning it.

So far, I'm giving it a five-star rating. The next day, it arrived. The size is just right, not too big, not too small, and just right for me. According to the instructions, set it to fan speed 3 for 20 minutes to perform a quick clean before lowering it to speed 1. It smelled like plastic right away when I turned it on, but after a few minutes, it went away. I held my flashlight up to it to see if it was working, and it was; I could see all of the particles in the air being drawn into the machine, and I made a video with the three sound speeds. You might be able to do three for thirty minutes. Set the timer for 45 minutes, then reduce it to one minute.

  Out of the five air purifiers I've purchased over the years, this is still the least expensive but most effective. Because combating dust in my older Bay Area home is the main reason I bother with these machines, I like to do the "flashlight test" with each air purifier I buy. I shine a bright flashlight at the filter's entry points to see how much dust gets in. If the purifier is drawing in a lot of dust, I know it's a keeper. If not, either the room I'm in is cleaner than the rest of the house or (more likely) it simply doesn't move enough air. I always notice a lot of dust being drawn in with the Levoit 300s. I've come to trust Levoit because they don't make outrageous claims about their filters, square footage, or CADR. You can trust that their figures are accurate and have been independently verified. br>br>This purifier has a number of features that make it a good buy. The 141 CFM is impressive for the price of $90; you could easily spend twice as much and get the same or lower CFM. It has a simple touchscreen display that can be turned off with the touch of a button (which is a nice feature that most purifiers don't have). It includes a filter reminder that sounds whenever you need to change your filters. Switching filters is simple: turn the machine off, turn it over, unscrew the bottom, remove the old filter, and replace it. It's the perfect size and weight for a nightstand, and it'll undoubtedly draw in more air in an elevated position than it would if it were sitting on the ground in a corner. br>br>In the last two years, I've only had to change the filter a couple of times. and-a- a period of six months I believe this because my air is clean thanks to the multiple purifiers I have running.
