Questions & Answers
Its purpose is to keep the cables cover in place against the handle frame by capturing the end of the cable cover, not the end with the little barrel. When you remove the broken handle, you'll notice that you'll need to unclip a clip in order to get the cable's barrel end out of the pull lever.
It certainly ought to. The replacement handle has a universal cable attachment point that works with your existing cable. Because replacements come in a variety of sizes, make sure you measure the length/width of your current handle (the visible, external oval part) to ensure it is the same as any replacement.
It all depends on how it's mounted. Fit your finger(s) into the slot and pull the lever away from the slot. As a result, it would lift up if slotted down.
Fits perfectly on my machine, and the pulling action is much smoother. When the others wear out, I'm thinking about replacing them.

You're looking for the Recliner Sofa/Chair Release Handle. It looks, feels, weighs, and appears to be durable due to its all-metal construction. It's simple to replace the old plastic handle, but be careful not to let the cable fall into the chair arm's interior. Because my cable fell inside the arm twice, I learned the hard way to tie a long flexible wire at the end to retrieve it. br>br>STRONG SUGGESTION: Purchase a small bottle of gear oil with a needle nose applicator from your local hobby or electric train shop. Apply one or possibly two small drops MAXIMUM of gear oil to each moving joint that you can find in EVERY WAY possible, recline the chair, tilt your chair backwards, get underneath, etc. Those moving joints can be seen by tilting the chair backwards and slowly moving the tilt mechanism. Dry recliner mechanism joints are one reason for the plastic handles breaking. The mechanism in your chair, like your own car, requires lubrication on a regular basis. Also, tighten any flat head or Phillips screws you come across. When you're done, grab your favorite beverage, recline, relax, and smile. br>br>I'm very pleased with this part; with proper care, your recliner mechanism should outlast the upholstery.
This was used to replace a broken one in a Haverty recliner that was 10 years old. br>br>It works perfectly and is mounted identically to the one it replaced. br>br>The handle's exterior was in good shape. I'd seen other reviews where people said theirs had chips in them. br>br>I deducted one star because the gap between where the cable's outer sheath is secured and where the cable's barrel goes in is smaller than the original. The gap between the broken and new ones was about 3/4" inch in the broken one and about 1/2" inch in the new one. That means you might not be able to get enough movement from the cable to release the recliner because the handle will reach its limit of movement before the cable is pulled far enough. This issue has been brought up by a few other reviewers. To repair, insert a slotted spring pin (or other slotted spacer) to move the cable's outer sheath away from the barrel. I checked the other recliner on my sofa before purchasing this handle to see how much movement it required. I only had to move the handle 3/4 of the way to get the recliner to work with the working plastic handle, which indicated that this new metal handle would most likely work without a spacer because I had some movement left over to take up the slack in the cable. br>br>Because the handle does not come with replacement mounting screws, make sure you keep your old ones.
When I pulled the small handle up on the boy sofa, it snapped. I looked on Amazon for replacement parts and found a few that were reasonably priced. This one piqued my interest because it is the perfect size and is made of metal. The original part was made of plastic, and it was clear that the plastic had become fatigued. It wasn't difficult to replace it. My husband completed the task with relative ease. This is simply the mechanism that attaches to the sofa's side. I hoped I wouldn't have to fiddle with the cable inside the sofa because it was in perfect working order. My husband found the part to be easy to install and said the quality of the part was better than the original part. I will note that if you have a La-Z-Boy, you will need to detach the cable inside to release the tension before you can attach the cable to the new part. If you need to replace the cable inside a boy sofa or chair (which we did not), look for a cable with a small loop on the end rather than one with a metal z-shaped connector. On the end, there is a shaped piece.
What a roller coaster of emotions. My Ashley motion furniture's handle broke, and when I turned it over, I discovered that the entire handle was made of plastic, making it unrepairable. I expected this to be costly, but 5 minutes later, after finding an exact replacement on Amazon (for less than $15), my mood had returned to happy. This handle, including the mounting holes, fit perfectly. Because this handle is entirely made of metal, there's no need to worry about it breaking like the original. It took only 3 minutes to install, and the handle now functions much more smoothly. I'm planning on ordering three more to replace the remaining plastic handles I have; these are the handles that should have been installed from the start, so order with confidence.
The product is an exact match for the Catnapper recliner couch. Don't waste your money on plastic handles; I did, and the handle broke in less than a month. This seller was then where I got the metal handles. Other manufacturers may use Philips head, but it's incredibly simple to do with needle nose pliers and a square end driver. One end took 9 minutes to replace, while the other took 8 minutes. With Amazon rewards, the total cost was $30. It would have cost $1500 to buy a new Catnapper leather recliner. In 17 minutes, I'll be reclining with a beer in my hand. Thank you, thank you, thank you to my older sister for looking for, finding, and recommending the recliner handles. Purchase handles made of metal.
It was a bit of a challenge to finish this piece! I am 100% satisfied with this product. It is far better than what La- has to offer. Why is it that a boy installs? Anyway, I consider myself to be fairly handy around the house and confident in my ability to make simple repairs. It threw me for a loop with this one. I was sure it wouldn't work for me at first. Then I wondered, "How does it work for everyone else?" Is it possible that I purchased the only recliner with a unique handle? If yours does not come with one, you will need to purchase one. The barrel is inserted into the opposite end of the original barrel. You'll be able to figure it out pretty quickly if you study the installation diagrams on the description page. I was just trying to put it on like the original, but it won't stay on!.
How much money does it cost the manufacturers to install PLASTIC recliner releases instead of METAL? Two of the three PLASTIC recliner releases have broken, and I've replaced them all with this METAL unit. br>br>It's quick and simple to replace, and it only takes a few minutes: a Phillips head screwdriver for removing the release from the chair itself, and a regular screwdriver for removing the old, broken unit's retaining clip To reinstall, replace the old release with the new one and follow the same steps as before.
