Her dorm room bed was too high for my freshman daughter, who is 5'2 and had trouble getting into it. I bought this product for her initially for this reason. A stool like this is very important to her. Whenever she needs it we can pull it out and open it when we don't need it. She also loves the fact that she can fold it up and leave it under the bed when she isn't using it. Despite the fact that it claims to hold "up to 300 pounds", it doesn't actually hold that much. It cracked in the middle when I stood up on it to hang her curtains, and I'm a big girl, around 200 lbs but under 300 lbs. We had a stool that did not support “up to 300 lbs”. We weren't sure if it was just me or the stool. If someone bigger wanted to use it, they would need to stand with their feet close to the edges where the bottom supports are instead of in the center where there is no support. Maybe change the description to 400 lbs, then I wouldn't have expected the stool to support that weight.

My toddler is the main reason I bought this stool, so it was definitely a cautious purchase on my part. There were reviews that stated that it doesn't 'lock' in place until there is weight on top of The lack of ease of use was a bother for me, and I had waited until my sister had one and I saw her use it with ease before I purchased it. True, it doesn't "lock" until there is weight on it (meaning it lifts slightly along the lengthwise direction), but it does while it is holding weight on it. There is no reason to be concerned about this safety issue. In all directions I tried to step on it and it is safe (I weigh 200 lbs). As well as the 'lift,' this is extremely small. People will be prevented from falling or slipping because of the rubber circles. If you are worried about that, it's really not a problem (unless you get a defective unit). The whole thing cannot collapse on its own when it is This is pretty sturdy for me, so I trust that my toddler can do it just fine (and has done it).

She found it a little difficult at first because the handle, where you pick it up from, is very small and it could easily pinch her fingers. even managed to pinch the side of her arm that was open when she opened.
