When I opened the package, the first thing I noticed was that it was made in China. I paid an extra fee because I assumed it was a product made in the United States.
People should be aware that if the description does not state "Made in USA" in large letters, the item is made in China. However, they continue to inquire.
This recipe isn't meant to be baked. Simply open the oven door, remove the food, insert the thermometer for a few seconds to obtain a reading, and return the food to the oven if it is not done.

Excellent customer service; they quickly sent out a new probe. It took two months for the first one to finish. It refused to power up. The new probe is the same model as the old one, but the on/offbuttons have been redesigned to move instead of pushing a hard membrane that flexed and depressed the switch inside the thermometer. The design appears to have vastly improved. The probe is also connected to the circuitboard by two wires that are smaller than a human hair's diameter. These wires flex every time the probe is rotated open or closed. It appears to be very fragile; we recommend taping the probe open to extend its life! If it breaks, they will send you a new one; we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause!.
Instant read thermometers haven't always worked out for me. It's always difficult for me to tell when chicken is done, and I'm tired of overcooking it. Prior to purchasing the ThermoPro, I tried two other thermometers and was dissatisfied with both of them. Even though I kept one thermometer in the same position, the temperature went up, down, and back up. I didn't buy any that cost more than $25, but they received positive feedback. I was even considering purchasing America's Test Kitchen's recommended thermometer, which is quite expensive. Then I started looking for "thermocouple" in my search because that was the type ATK preferred. Thermopro TP18 appeared out of nowhere, complete with positive reviews and a reasonable price. It's faster than my others, and after doing the ice water test and checking the room temperature (just over 1 degree off on the ice water, and spot on for the room temp), I think I've found an instant read thermometer I can trust. I don't even have to touch the power button to turn it on; When I remove it from the refrigerator, it usually turns on (I'm not sure if other customers have noticed this). The fact that it has a magnet on the back is extremely convenient for me. Also, the customer service is very helpful and responds to questions quickly.
This provides accurate readings in a fraction of the time and costs a fraction of the price of a thermometer. I have both the old and new models, and the new one is much easier to read because of the bright lcd display. It's made of higher-quality plastic, and the magnets, particularly the hold-temp function, are welcome additions. It still has the same problem as the previous model in that it's easy to switch from F to C readings by accident, but practice makes perfect.
I just got this thermometer, which I bought as a gift. I bought a thermometer from the same company a few years ago that I really like; it gives me extremely fast temperatures and is perfect for my barbecuing. It costs more than $100, and I'm satisfied with the price given how much it aids in perfect cooking. Cooking without a good thermometer, in my opinion, is comparable to driving without a speedometer. You know you're moving and have a rough idea of how fast you're going, but you're not sure how fast you're going. br>br>I was astounded to discover that this $20 thermometer is just as good as the $100 thermometer I purchased a few months ago, with the exception that the device is built better. It's magnetic, so it'll stick to metal. It's smaller and more comfortable to hold, and despite its diminutive size, it has a large enough display for me to read without reading glasses (I'm in my 60s, so almost everything requires reading glasses these days). It's well-made and performs admirably. Given the low price, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.
I'm not sure if I just got a bad one, but I just sent this back today. I have a different, less expensive model from the same manufacturer that I love, so I thought I'd give this one a shot because it was supposed to be faster. Last night, I ruined about $100 worth of New York strip steaks for a dinner party, and it's all because of this thermometer. It took a long time to get a temperature (about ten minutes). After trying another thermometer after leaving the steaks on the grill for far too long, I discovered it was off by about 20 degrees. The temperature is 30 degrees. It was probably my fault for not testing it right away, but I assumed everything was fine because I'd had such good luck with the company before. That one cost me a lot of money. Well- medium rare was substituted for done.
