Our crusher performs admirably even when it is not mounted. The secret is to dent the can slightly before crushing it. It's nearly impossible to crush a can that hasn't been dented in some way. Even though I am small and weak, I have no trouble using the crusher on our countertop to crush a dented can. I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it!
The arm does not raise high enough for a 16 oz can when it is mounted as instructed. Perhaps a piece of 2x4 should be secured behind the base. Following that, the arm fully extends. The instructions make no mention of this.
You bet! We crush the large cans on occasion (with ease), so I'm sure the small slim cans would be no problem. Make sure the lower platform's edge is crimped to prevent "missile cans." Before pulling down on the handle, make sure to dimple the can with your thumb.
I don't drink 24s very often, but every once in a while one of my drinks is a 24. Yes, a 24 oz can can be used. The only caveat is that you must crush the can slightly before inserting it. If you only drink 24 ounces, you should go somewhere else. If it's only once in a while, and your standard can size is 12 or 16, Take a chance.

After reading the reviews, I decided to try out a few of the suggested modifications and use a different mounting method. We are very pleased with the unit, and it has already paid for itself several times in a short period of time. br>br>First, I used washers, nuts, and bolts to reinforce the two pivot/hinges. Second, I used a pivot that one reviewer had pop apart; that will never happen to mine; the rest of it will fall apart first. br>br>Second, I used a pivot that one reviewer had pop apart; that will never happen to mine. br>br>I also used a pivot that one reviewer had pop apart; that will never happen to mine. br>b.
There isn't much to say about this. Crushes cans with ease. It's well-made and a great value for the money; it's highly recommended.
Given all of the 4 and 5 star reviews, I had high expectations for this product. Unfortunately, the unit I received was defective, with one side of the device bent outwards, causing the following issues: br>br>1) The hinge on that side isn't working properly. Instead, when you move the handle, it hangs and creates resistance. 2) As can be seen in the photo, the piston rod is twisted. As a result, the piston catches on one side and becomes stuck inside the device. br>br>As is, the product is unusable. When I went to Amazon to request a replacement, I was surprised to learn that the item was not returnable. br>br>Because the product is warrantied, I've contacted the seller via email, and we'll see what happens. Other ideas: br>br> br>br>1) The crusher is made of heavy gauge steel, and if it works, I expect it to last for a long time. 2) The handle is made up of a thick rubber tube that spins on a shaft. Should aid operation, but the handle is a little on the small side in terms of diameter, and I imagine it would become uncomfortable after extended use. br>3) There is a template for mounting the crusher included in the instructions. br>br>Once I hear back from the seller, I'll update this review and let you know how things go. br>br>4/9/2019 br>br>4/9/2019 br>br>4/9/2019 br> br>On March 20, 2019, I sent them an email. After receiving no response, I dialed the phone number listed on the package. For someone named Charlie, the phone goes to voice mail pretty quickly. The outgoing message makes no mention of whether or not I've reached the correct company. I provided my contact information as well as a detailed description of the issue. I'll wait for them to respond for a few more days. br>br>Update: 8/25/2019 br>I've given up after numerous attempts to reach out to the manufacturer. My rating has been reduced to one star due to the company's complete lack of customer service, and I now own a $25 scrap metal piece. Be wary of the buyer!.
Great for crushing cans. I bent up and created a lip on the base where the can rested with a vise grip to prevent the can from slipping out when I applied downward pressure to crush it. (I've included a picture of the base bend. ) Please excuse the dust; I frequently use this crusher. ) Before using, lubricate all moving hinge and pinion points with WD 40 or Garage Door Lubricant. This will make the crusher easier to use while also extending its life. I hope you find this information useful.
They were BOTH DEFECTIVE when I received them, and there were no refunds or returns. Not one, but TWO defective crushers have been assigned to me! br>As you can see in the photos, the CENTER bracket to which the arm is attached is NOT CENTERED, causing the part that is supposed to crush the cans to repeatedly come out of its track. BUY THIS PRODUCT AT YOUR OWN RISK! br> You are going to be sorry.
