China is where Zyliss makes its products.
That is an excellent suggestion; There are a few 'hairy' spots on mine, but they aren't frayed at all. I still believe that'mechanical' spinners are superior to pull cord spinners, but I have yet to find one that I like.
In the large version, the inner green basket is 4-inches tall. On the countertop, measure 5/8" from the base. The interior has a 4-foot width. 3/8”.
I threw mine out and replaced it with one that works by pumping up and down. This one appears to be a long-term commitment.

We decided to stick with Zyliss when it finally died because the previous one had been so good. br>br>This one has a different design than the one we had before. After only a few weeks, the string had completely pulled out. The string had routed out a channel in the plastic body of the spinner prior to it pulling out, so it appears that this newer design is flawed. br>br>I switched to a different brand, which I don't like as much as our previous one. I wish they'd kept the old design because it was a well-made item.
This spinner has left me very disappointed. For many years, I used an older model from this company, until the string pull finally wore out. I ordered this one because I'd had good luck with this company's spinner in the past. There are a lot of complaints about this new model. It does not spin out the water as well as the previous one, and the addition of a fourth part and a different design do not help. When spinning, the top cover does not stay on due to a lack of lip to keep it in place. ) After three attempts to spin dry the lettuce, it is still quite wet. When lettuce isn't properly dried, it spoils much more quickly. WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG? The previous model was significantly superior. The newer one is a disaster in terms of design.
I bought it because my parents have an older model that allows you to pull the cord repeatedly to make the thing spin really fast, and this one had a hard time retracting the cord or wouldn't do it at all unless you pulled on it again.
PCR plates and tube racks can be spun easily in a lab centrifuge. It's just as good as my $6000 Eppendorf for casual centrifuging and spinning stuff down. Safety and Compliance inspectors are baffled as to why I have a salad spinner on my lab bench because it is fairly durable, spins quickly, and is easy to clean. Up to four 96-inch televisions can be accommodated. plates with a hole.
The "new and improved" version, which has been increased in price, is once again not nearly as good as the previous version. The extra cover is inconvenient to use, and the lettuce isn't as dry as it could be. The older version, which was whiter, was far superior - It was simple to use, dried the lettuce quickly, and was far superior to the new version in terms of construction. This new version's basket is thin and won't last long. I had the old white version for about twenty years, and it served me well until I dropped it and broke the outer bowl. I wish they'd abandon this and return to the original white single cover version.
When this string snapped in less than 5 seconds, I was stunned. Instead of touting their warranty credentials, I'd prefer if the manufacturer pulled these off the shelves and re-released them. make a new robust version of their old one. I like the three-piece modification because particles used to get stuck in the old lid, but their string is terrible.
When my previous Zyliss finally gave up the ghost. I didn't think twice about ordering another one for my eight-year-old son. Although some of the reviews were negative, particularly regarding the pull ring, I decided to order regardless. I rarely write reviews, but in this case I felt compelled to express how pleased I am with my purchase and how much I prefer the new design. I've been using my new spinner for a few months now, and it's performed admirably in the tasks I've assigned it. To save time, I wash and spin my lettuce and vegetables (not tomatoes) together a lot, and the bowl is big enough for me to make enough for a couple of days.
To prevent it from slipping, it has a rubber "ring" on the bottom. It fits nicely in the refrigerator, which I like. It is not tapered, as some are, and therefore takes up less space. It also has a flat top, allowing you to stack another lightweight container on top to maximize fridge storage space.
