There is enough room in the clear bowl for more than a gallon of water. It is a little smaller than the mesh bowl you use to wash your greens. A measurement of my clear bowl without the lid is 10 1/4" x 5 1/2".
A bowl that is just a sixteenth of an inch smaller, but the basket is at least half an inch smaller. It is as smooth and as fast as expected for a model newly designed by China. But that could be because of how old our old one is. We are generally pleased with the spinner - it's a very good product. Because the product is made in China, the price point is a bit high. One star is deducted from the rating.
Please try again. Oxo is a firm that doesn't rest on its laurels, which is one of the things I love about it. The company always looks for ways to improve its products, no matter how good they are already. Oxo has done it again with this latest version of their salad spinner! As far as I can recall, I had the previous version for more years than I can remember. There was nothing bulletproof about that thing. If a clueless house guest hadn't put its spinner top cover in the bottom rack of my dishwasher with the wash cycle set for extra hot water, I would still be using it. The new model surprised me by exceeding the old one in every way. I was wary that it would not live up to the old one, but it exceeded it in every respect. I find the quality of plastic throughout to be of a higher standard the appearance is more pleasing to the eye, the compact design doesn't take up as much space in my cabinet and the spinner mechanism functions correctly. Then why aren't we in love with it? Bravo, Oxo, for yet again being the company that fails to be satisfied with just good.
The main difference is that the capacity is a bit smaller than the old large one, but a pro is that the plastic seems to be a bit tougher. But after we got a new one and shopped for it, after we saw how poorly it performs after washing for the first time, it just doesn't do as well as our old 11 year old one. Occasionally, when you press firmly on the plunger, you hear a grinding sound and the spinning is limited. On top of that, the top of the plunger keeps popping off, and you have to replace it frequently. She never had any problems like this when she was 11. Our recommendation would be to steer clear of this one for two reasons. Could there be a problem with the device? There's no way to know for sure.
I find this spinner to be unusable. Although it reaches a high speed, it still leaves a lot of water on the greens, even if there is an effort to boost its It is difficult to dismantle the lid to clean or dry it. In order to be able to store the plunger, it needs to lock into the down position. This product does pop up, but then it makes it difficult to pull stuff out, put things away, etc. I was very disappointed and expected more from this brand. After dealing with all the hassle for a year we are just worn out dealing with soaked greens. A new pull cord is being installed to replace the old one The cord version we used to have was working beautifully, but it broke after many years (so we replaced it with the new one).
