It does not rotate, nor does the dial face. There is a small knob you can turn to adjust the pointer/arrow to zero. As an example, if you want to measure only the weight of the contents of a bowl but not the weight of the bowl itself, you can adjust the pointer to zero while the bowl is on the scale and then fill the bowl. The aluminum track crossed the screen and the tare knob had 1 kg of adjustment (I zeroed the displays with the aluminum track). My next step was to put weights on a cart and then pull it with a string along the track. It is easy to read the display in a large lecture hall and the balances are reasonable As well as being useful around the demo room, I find the scales handy.
