There is a sturdy plastic construction to it

Due to its plastic material, it looks like it will break easily if you start to exert pressure trying to open it. This is the case, isn't it?

There is really only a very small amount of pressure required. When you press the vacuum button, it'll catch under the lip of the jar top and you'll hear it pop! Once the lid is unscrewed, remove it. A jartop isn't easily removed as if it had a beer cap on it.

In the past, I dented perfectly good knives when I hit jar covers with my blade. As I watched organized soprano on YouTube, she said she didn't know what she was doing before she had this device, and as soon as I saw it, I rushed to Amazon and ordered one. It's not commonly the behavior of mine to do such things, but I live alone and I have been injured in the past, leaving me weak at my wrists. I have difficulties opening jars because I have a hard time getting them open. My minimalist kitchen has won a permanent home for this little piece of art. Unless you know that they have previously struggled with jars or have arthritis, it would be odd to give it as a gift unless you know the person has struggled with jars or had arthritis A kitchen is the only place where you need one.

Trying for the first time Failure on a massive scale

Now, just to let you know, I received this. . . My first attempt at opening a jar was to open a jar of Costco minced garlic. The idea of trying it excited me. Although the lip of the jar lid was too thick to fit in the device, it did not fit into the tube So far, this is a huge FAIL. I'll update the next time a jar needs to be opened.

It takes a little lifting or two for the seal to break and air to invade, then it's merely a matter of turning the screw Because I have arthritis in my thumb, I find that trying to open stubborn jars without this Jar Key is painful. And I don't want to wait for my husband to get home before I can.

Having trouble opening jars whose lids are tightly secured is one of my most frustrating experiences. A jar of roasted red peppers that was especially tightly sealed caught my attention. Everything I could think of I tried. I could not get the lid off none of my friends could Months went by before it became a running joke. Since I became arthritic, where has this thing been? Putting it on the edge of the lid and applying slight pressure will allow it to pop That would be great for those plastic lids on bottles that I have to take a knife to, the ones I have to literally saw off by hand.
