Using this knife to cut the grapefruit in half may not be practical. They are both short, one end is curved, and on the other end, there has to be quite a bit of Grapefruit, however, works very well when it comes to preparing it for consumption.

In the photo, the blades are shown as plastic. However, in the description, the blades are described as What type of stainless steel do they have? Is there a dishwasher that you can put in?

Plastic is used as the handle and stainless steel as the blades. According to the package, hand washing is recommended, but I have put it in the dishwasher and none of it has melted.

The following flaw is an example of an ironic This item was bought in October 2017
3/5

I bought it because paint reacts with citrus juice. As of December 2019, it is December 2020. It's been 2 years since I got it, and I've used it maybe 5 times during that time Yesterday was the last time we heard from her. In my experience, I have faced similar problems as others. The double blades that are supposed to protect the membranes between sections don't stay in close proximity. Whenever you slice them, they widen, which means the fruit is cut into. This might not matter to most people since we are talking about millimeters of missed nutrition. Although I have indeed inched the two blades closer together while sectioning, I find it awkward enough to want to avoid using that end of the tool, and instead rely solely on the serrated end of the tool. It does work quite well, and the serrated end is useful. It must be said that this tool is NOT what it appears to be. This kit is "squirtless" as it states in the title. If someone doesn't care about whether or not a tool keeps citrus fruits from squirting juice at them, I don't understand the point. A grapefruit cutting tool cannot be designed to prevent squirting so I am unsure how it could work. If you placed a circular splash guard in the center of the tool, maybe it would be helpful? You'd still need to be able to see where you're cutting, but it would have to be clear. You manufacturers should take note. I have a completely unrelated idea We'd like to thank you for your support. Even if all that were true, this would be a pretty decent purchase, except for one thing I noticed after I took the tool out of the dishwasher (it IS supposed to be dishwasher safe) to slice up the second half of the grapefruit It looked as if the tool was very My first thought was "Oh, maybe some of the juice has dried on the blade and is so sticky that it can't be cleaned by the dishwasher. ". As soon as I got home, I took some dish soap and a sponge to clean the blade by hand. It was then that I noticed that the bubbles of dry-cleaning fluid did not look like they should "Juice" seemed to have bubbles IN it, but it was actually paint with bubbles. I have attached photos of the event Both sides of the paint are bubbling. Since I did not rinse the carving blade immediately after cutting - I think I did something wrong. By letting it sit for a few hours, the paint started to react with the grapefruit juice.

Maybe my dishwasher is not happy with it? That's either a pretty serious flaw or a pretty silly one. No matter how undetectable the paint flakes may be, I wouldn't want to eat them with my grapefruit. This one is going to be thrown out and I'll be looking for a stainless steel grapefruit knife without paint on it. There is no guarantee that your mileage will be the same.

Norpro's grapefruit knife is ineffective and has several flaws
3/5

I loved grapefruit and had used the same grapefruit knife for years, but lost it when I moved and purchased this Norpro grapefruit knife as a replacement. Overall, I think it would be better for people to purchase a grapefruit knife with the more traditional shorter blades and wooden handle because this new design is a hassle and the whole point of a grapefruit knife is to serve/eat grapefruit less hassle than using a regular spoon.

It makes sense to combine great value and utility with high quality
5/5

Grapefruit is something I haven't had in years, even though I live in Florida! A few months ago, I purchased a sack of them for reasons unknown. So what do we do now? Googled how to eat a grapefruit and quickly found out that I needed a serrated curved grapefruit knife. Honestly, I purchased this one because it sounded The grapefruits I purchased have been eaten four times already. You will receive instructions on the packaging, but if you have never made knives before, I recommend you do a little research online because the instructions are not 100% intuitive. The handles are plastic, but the knives are metal. Despite their fragility, the blades are durable. A steak knife with a sturdy handle. In the past, I have not used the section dual blade remover since I don't mind eating the pith section lines, but I tried it and it appears to work fine. The curved blade to remove the fruit from the peel is sharp enough to "Go through the meat like butter. ". However, you would need to use a lot of force or misuse of the knife Definitely a plus in my book. There is a chance that a finger could be cut with the double blade side knives, but it would still take some force. It has only been used eight times (4 grapefruit cut in half), so I have no idea how durable it is. According to the safetiness, aesthetics and value of this item, I recommend it.

This gadget is the best of the best
5/5

It's amazing how useful this little tool is! It was only when I looked up 'easy way to peel grapefruit' on YouTube and saw videos that I realized it existed. Separating the fruit from its skin is very easy since it slides on very well over this part that divides the skin.
As a final step in the peeling, the part that cuts out the grapefruit fits the fruit perfectly and leaves nothing attached to the fruit's
I didn't have to wait more than two minutes to open it, slice it in half, and have half a bowl of fruit and juice.
Best part - it was so easy. There is no mess to clean up! There is no squirting of.

In the middle of the two parallel blades there was a gap
3/5

The grapefruit was hard to section because of the peel. In order to slice the grapefruit, the blades on the straight side had to touch each other otherwise, a small gap would have been added to facilitate the process. trying to pry them apart so they would stay apart, the two blades slipped out of their holders, so they had a fanned out appearance, again making it difficult for me As a result of my frustration, I'm buying another product.
