Questions & Answers

What is the state of the blade What are the chances of sharpening the edge?

According to what I know, the blade is not very prone to dulling. I bought this for a family member. It wouldn't matter how they were sharpened because they are so inexpensive that I would just buy a new one if they needed it.

What is the edge like? Is it serrated?

As of now, I have 2 Among them, one has a serrated blade while the other has a smooth one. A new one was purchased today, March 18, 2015, after I forgot I had one in my drawer In the newer models, there is a smooth edge on the edges.

Would you be able to sharpen it for me?

Sharpening has not yet been tried. Having said that, what you have to do is cut the bottom off the mango, and then stand it straight up, and you shouldn't have issues.

What should you do with the peeling?

You do not need to peel the apple. Probably a video on youtube that shows you how to do this. Ripe mangos can therefore be easily pierced, but it must be ripe before that can happen.

Worked like a charm
5/5

My initial reaction was to be skeptical about this, but I go through so many mangoes I figured it won't hurt. It's great, and it works exactly as promised. The size of the mangoes they use here is too small for some here, but I guess they must be working with some truly massive mangoes since it fits the larger ones I get at the grocery store as well. In addition to cutting well and cleaningly, it preserves most of the flesh and does not leave much behind on the pit to salvage. For anyone who is a mango lover like me, this is a must-try Using this tool makes things a whole lot easier, from the fiddly task of handling a knife to the quick and simple process of putting it on the stem. Just place it over the nub and push to the finish. This is a good.

The old Oxo mango slicer is no match for this
4/5

There is no comparison between the blade on this mango slicer and the one on my old Oxo machine. Even though it cuts through mangoes easily, I still cut off the bottom so I can balance the fruit and the top so I can see the seeds and orient the slicer accordingly. My only wish is that the cutting unit would be smaller for small mangos so less fruit remains on the seed, but I wouldn't be able to gorge myself on that residual fruit while standing over the sink with mango juice running down my arms as in a Julia Child novel!.

My whole life I haven't seen you! Could you please tell me where you are? One of my friends recently showed me how to open a mango, so I started eating them
5/5

When I was researching, I couldn't tell by reading reviews whether the size of the mangoes I bought were on the large or small end of the size range. I was unsure that this would be an appropriate Because I was able to get this cheaper online than in a store, I chose to buy online. My favorite OXO products are all high quality, and they get the job done in an efficient manner. I've realized I wasn't aware of this all my life. I can now slice my mango in seconds. Wow. . . where have you been all my life? This is the one and only time I regret not purchasing the product earlier.

The mangoes should be OK for the small ones
3/5

The same does not apply to (Against the common sense in me) I bought this according to Cooks Illustrated recommendations. It was implied that it was effective on mangoes of all sizes in the CI review. Not at all. The larger mango seeds simply aren't strong enough to fit through the hole despite the fact that it's nice and sharp. I would not use the product on a limited basis, but it works well with smaller mangoes.

Taking money for granted is a waste

With this slicer, I have never been able to fit a mango seed. This product had all been oversized, so it was of no use.

I like it a lot! I am a big fan of this tool
5/5

I have not noticed that this unit gets dull really fast. There are a lot of complaints about that. I have used it for over a year and it is still as sharp as ever. *EDIT
People complaining about the content being dull should take a moment to read this This is 1. Put it back in the dishwasher after a few minutes. Any object with a sharp edge falls into that category. . * *2. Let it rest on the hard surface instead of slamming it down. If you want to cut your mangoes on a plastic cutting board, then you should do it on a soft plastic cutting board.

It's amazing how much I love my mango splitter! Now, please explain to me why I am just now learning how to slice pineapples, mangos, and onions
5/5

As a parent, I suppose I should refine my culinary skills, just like a learner, because I realize my parents only taught me the basics. This item was very entertaining, and I even tried to Google how to slice a mango - I was very entertained by all of the comments on the item. There is a particular slippery surface on the outside of the fruit skin that makes it difficult to pry the delicious fruit loose from its seed. The bottom line is that I love my OXO GOOD GRIPS MANGO SPLITTER. The mango-slicing knife is worth every penny and makes mangoes seem easy. With my family's favorite fruit available all year long, we can enjoy it every day! As for mango chips, once you separate this juicy fruit from its seed using your Oxo Splitter, you'll be left with two plump halves - you'll enjoy these on their own or together! Once the mango is in the skin, you slice it with a knife several times in each direction until you are left with little square cubes attached to the skin, and then you push on the skin side of the mango until the little cubes protrude out from the other end (Sorry - my friend just told me this tip That was a bit surprising that it wasn't on YouTube). As for the OXO Mango Splitter, I hope you enjoy it You can use it!.

It will be appreciated by those who love mangoes

The first time I heard about this, I wondered how it As my mangoes were messy and much of the fruit was wasted, I decided to use this and I am thrilled with the results. For this to work, ensure that you follow the short directions which state to hold the mango on a slight diagonal so that the circumference can be fitted.
