There is a slight difference in weight between this and the other spatulas in my kitchen, but it is not noticeable when I use it to stir or mix food. Additionally, the ridged area around the handle has been removed—it used to hold onto food and make it impossible to really ever get all the food off the spatula into the bowl as desired. Using the spatula, you can easily scrape most corners of the bowl, and it makes it easy to remove food from the bowl. The fins still need to be shaped differently when it comes to getting into the bottom of a jar, but that is something of a specialty. In any case, it was good to receive the black spatula, and I'm relieved not to have to wonder if it got occasionally stained from food such as I notice that when I smell it after washing, it usually smells clean or, at worst, has a faint odor from the food, but only if it was an especially pungent food. If there is a residual smell after I use it for a while, it usually fades away by the next time I do so. My favorite thing about this spatula is its shape.
