In my understanding of the outward diameter of the screen, I would get 9 if the inner diameter was considered from the top. This can be translated to five As a result, there would be an additional 1/2" in each side that cannot be used. You may need to provide more criteria if this answer did not work.
Wheat bran is not a part of my diet, so I'm not sure of its density. Using my knowledge of rice, I can say that rice does not fall through the holes, so if wheat bran is the same size as cooked rice, then I would say no, it would not sift.
The holes aren't big enough for the quinoa to fall through, so I think that it would work. The collander works great!

It is usual for Amazon to replace the first one I'm sent. My rim was loose on one side. I notice this one is not adhered at the rim very well, but if it does come loose, glue is the answer. I mean, almost half of what I order has to be sent back for some reason or other. According to me, Amazon is sacrificing quality for speed, and this is why these colanders break right at the seal at the rim.
The surface was rough and the holes had tiny metal burrs. We were going to return it, but my husband sanded them off, so we were able to use it. The water that remained on the plastic rim after washing was not to my liking. It's not quite what I was looking for (a wire mesh colander), but it'll.
Colanders are the simplest of kitchen appliances, so I figured I wouldn't write a review about them since there is nothing wrong with them, right? Somebody decided to stick a scan code sticker that says made in China on the bottom or any other part of the colander that is extremely sticky and must have gotten in the way in some way We thought it would be a good idea to apply resilient glue. It's not true! If there is hot water, then there is boiling water. It took me some time to scrape this glue off despite very difficult scraping. It's too bad the glue doesn't get a higher rating! I find this sticker to be VERY harmful to any product it's attached to. The risk is even greater when it is something that you eat. In addition to the glue looking bad, it smells bad as well. The turpentine or nail polish remover should not be used on a colander, but unfortunately I must. The glue remains sticky even after you've done everything else I've suggested to clean it off! I wish I'd bought a different colander because the glue is fantastic.
I used a small strainer with a handle but it was too small and I was frustrated when I made noodles for dinner. I ordered this guy and I thought it was going to be bigger, but, was glad I bought it and it's fine. It would have been nice in other colors, since I think the green is a little ugly (in my opinion) and the pink was better. I wanted the green though, but my boyfriend had other ideas. However, our green cups and bowls worked out because we have those! However, I still don't like that color, but that's beside the point. One of its best features is that it does the job!.

While it is lightweight, it is sturdy, and its handles are comfortable. The holes aren't big enough to allow rice or lentils to pass through. Draining pasta is quick, so it won't get cold while you're waiting for the water to go In it, you can easily wash fruits. Although it holds the same amount as my old colander, there is no need for it to be as tall, so it fits better in the cupboard. I've only had it for a couple of months, so I cannot comment on its durability. However, it seems to be durable in the long run. I love how easy it is My order arrived quickly and I am very happy with.

The collapsible strainer I bought lasts two weeks, so I bought this to replace it. My favorite part of it is the music. It's hard work to clean but it works with hot food and can be washed in the dishwasher without any problems. The strainer is terrific for rinsing fruits and vegetables or straining grease.
