I saw my husband using this colander this week for home brewing. He found it to be very useful. It was easy to hold the colander filled with the bag mash on top of the 3 gallon stockpot to drain the mash so no one had to hold it all the time. The only thing he was making was two. This is capable of handling 5 gallons, but has no doubt that it can handle 5.
There are no exact measurements, but it seems about a foot in diameter and holds five quarts as its description indicates.
There's no rust on it. And I don't expect it to have

I often turn to America's Test Kitchen for advice on a new piece of kitchen equipment, but rarely buy it exactly as they suggest. By the time I see the review, every other idiot in the country has seen the same exact review, and will rush out to buy it. Who makes the products (and who sells them? ), and will raise the price much higher than when it was (I'm looking directly at your Victorinox knives, guys. ) $45 for a plastic handle and an 8" length is ridiculous. Rather than get the ATK recommended one, I will search for a similar product that has the features I like, and purchase that. As long as the piece of kitchen equipment I am using is good enough for its intended purpose, then I would not need it to last a lifetime. The colander is similar to the one recommended by ATK, but it is significantly more affordable. I find that it is durable enough and the handles feel nice and solid. It is not heavy duty, but it is sturdy enough for my purposes. (If I make pasta at all) I do so once a week. I'm still going to use my tongs to pull it from the water if it's spaghetti or something like that. This is the only time I use him. I usually use it to drain a pound of macaroni. You can clean it relatively easily. It's easy to clean out this hole with one of these silicon scrubby pads, which get right in between the smallest holes. In addition to that, it dries pretty fast. In this case, the pedestal lifts the sink out from the base so that pasta water does not splash back onto The equipment is well worth the price, and you will be glad you bought it.
Having such a colander is a great idea. The one I have been using is plastic and I got it I decided to replace all my plastic food storage containers with glass bowls as one would want to ensure food safety when preparing food for consumption. I decided it was about time I did the same with my colander that gets in contact with hot liquids. The liquids should be hot. After discovering America's Test Kitchen product reviews, which recommended the RSVP one several years ago, I came to Amazon expecting to buy a similar product from RSVP (it is similar to that sold by RSVP). After seeing this one, I decided to give it a go. My RSVP colander cost $7 less than this one when I bought it It would be 27% cheaper if it wasn't for the shipping costs! And I believe that LiveFresh is the better product, which I will discuss further There is an apparent 18% steel content in these parts Instead of 18, it should be 8 As described in the description, the game has 10 levels. The source for that conclusion is this website, which says that 304 type and 18-speed type Steel that is 8" and 8" tall is the same material. In the food industry, steel is used for all kinds of utensils- This includes applications related to this. There are many types of vegetables (and I mean ALL kinds of veggies A juicer, a meat grinder, a stainless countertop, pots and pans, etc. , etc. - a need exists that no home can do without. If you want to learn more, please read the page. Search for "type 304 steel" on your own and see what you come up with. agree with the conclusion that the steel should be used for a colander, and I notice that the product is also covered by a lifetime warranty.
The steel feels substantial and is unlikely to bend. It has a smooth interior and exterior, and is made of fine stainless steel Your kitchen towels will not snag on it. All of the handles on the colander are riveted on and very solid, and flush with the sides. I with four fingers, so it's big enough for my use. It's not large enough for users with large hands, but it's good for me. This LiveFresh colander has holes measuring 2mm, according to the label included with it from the manufacturer. (The loop measures 3 and 15/16 inches across its widest dimension. ) )The base of steel is welded onto the bottom of the unit, and it lies flat and solid on my counter. RSVP colander customers have complained about a number of things - at least one of which has been corrected by this product. The colander base ring of this LiveFresh product has two large holes punched in it so that if you set it on the bottom of the sink and hold the pot of hot pasta with both hands, you can get the pasta to drain completely. In the event that you need to drain water, it's less likely that the water will back up into your food after it's become contaminated. In the base ring, there are several holes that allow water to drain out the sides. ring of solid base without any )
On my colander, there is a small cosmetic scratch near the attachment points where the handles connect to In my opinion, I don't see the point in reducing a star or returning the item for a It is mentioned here in case it would be of any significance - Those who find them difficult will find them a deal breaker. Alternatively, you may want to set a separate order for your colander, so it would be the only item in the box, or specify what kind of packaging you need, to prevent this problem. As my colander will be stored inside a cabinet and not hung on a wall, I won't be disturbed by (In this case, my definition of cosmetic is When I run my fingernail across the scratches, I can barely tell they are there, and they are not enough to catch It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ).
A few days ago, I purchased 2 LiveFresh 5 QT Steel Colanders from Amazon. I found the reviews to be accurate and good. There is no doubt that stainless steel is a very solid material. In this case, the handles are not only welded but are also attached with grommets. There is a strong connection between the bottom and the top. Drainage is also provided by two holes at the bottom. It's going to be great to use them. I am very pleased with the materials and construction.
Because it stated specifically that it could be used to rinse quinoa, I bought this colander. Since the colander I had had holes that were too large, it wouldn't work. I guess the holes aren't even close to being small enough for quinoa, but they are still smaller. There is now a second colander in my cabinet (which is a very large colander by the way) which I can also not use in order to drain the fact that it was so large and the holes were too big for the purpose I bought it for and which I trusted it would work for, it was not as advertised. Colanders seem to be a nice idea. Normally, I would have returned it if it were not for the circumstances. As a result, I'm keeping it because it doesn't seem worth it to return it during this emergency. The reason I bought this colander was not because it is not a good colander otherwise, it is just that I can't stand false advertising.
The only time I write a positive review is if it is for a product I consider to be outstanding. This item is designed and made extremely well and should be the "go to" item as I use it in my kitchen and you may use it in yours as well. The inside of the bowl area is smooth, so food should slide out from underneath with ease. Some kinds of uncooked grains or small sized rice might get stuck in the holes of this or pass through it, so I doubt it can be used for washing or rinsing them. Most cooked grains or rice will swell however, it should catch and strain most kinds of cooked grains and rice. The pot is larger than "water cooking", and it fits nicely in my double sink that measures 14" x 15" inches on each side. One tip might be to order this one item when ordering your shipping, so it comes in its own box and is not damaged by other items inside the box.
