How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
The cutting wheel is securely locked in place by the locking mechanism, ensuring a consistent cut and reducing hand strain, while the sharp blade easily opens cans.
Nice and easy.
The cutting mechanism is made of high-grade, sharpened stainless steel and is designed to puncture cans with ease.
Once you've finished opening the can, use the built-in magnet to lift the lid off for hands-free disposal. It's perfect for use at home, but it's also strong and long-lasting enough for use in commercial, industrial, and professional settings.
Traditional clunky hand operated openers are less comfortable than modern designs that blend in with all kitchen styles.

Questions & Answers

Is this a product from the United States of America?

I wish Amazon would reveal the manufacturing location of items so we wouldn't have to go through all of this trouble. I typed in "can opener made in USA" and got about 5000 results that weren't made in the United States. What a let down! Thank you for taking the time to respond, everybody.

Why, if this is such a great can opener, are some people complaining that it doesn't cut?

I've used a lot of can openers, and this is by far the worst. It works fairly well on approximately 80% of cans. Many styles of cans will not track properly when turning the crank, so you'll have to start over from the beginning. This results in jagged cuts, and you'll still need to pry the lid loose from the track where it jumped off. With so many positive reviews, this was not at all what I expected.

Is it simple for arthritic hands to do?

I know it's a little late, but there is a manual can opener that, in my opinion, is arthritis friendly. It's the Swing-Era-Era-Era-Era- It is screwed into the wall. Way 609WH Magnetic Wall Can Opener Once it's set up, you open the top and place your can inside; once it's there, the cutters hold it in place, and there's a REAL magnet that grabs the lid and holds it in place, as well as a large handle to turn to cut off the lid. Because the can is locked in and fixed to the wall, turning the handle is simple because you don't have to worry about the handles colliding or the can moving on you. This is the ONLY one that isn't electric and is gentle on my arthritis. Getting the can locked into the jaws is the most challenging part. It's designed to sit flat against the wall and be pulled out as needed. The entire can opener fits into slots to keep it in whatever position you need it to be in.

Is the magnet supposed to hold the can open while you open it? How? Is it necessary to rotate the opener after the lid has been detached in order for the magnet to lift it?

Is it necessary to rotate the opener using the gray handle on the left in the first image? I was disappointed after purchasing what appeared to be a similar manual can opener with a magnet. Despite wearing braces, doing PT, OT, and exercises, etc., I have severe arthritis in my hands, and I had a lot of trouble using that product, and this one appears to be even more difficult. On the other hand, even after exerting a great deal of effort turning the handle, the cutting mechanism would frequently end up "in the open." Until I looked, I couldn't tell if it had removed the lid. Even though my arthritis has gotten worse since getting rid of the other one, this one appears to be easier to use. I also purchased a secondhand model of a good brand that was tall and plugged into the wall. It had a long lever-style handle that seemed to make it easier to use. However, the mechanism broke off when it fell into the "tower." I believe that a battery-operated can opener, such as this one, is more useful for people with hand problems, especially if they live in an area where power outages occur on a regular basis. So, I guess, this isn't so much an answer as it is another question along the same lines.

THIS IS THE WORST
3/5

I'm not sure how this can opener has so many positive reviews when I despise it so much. I despise the thing with a burning passion. Maybe I just got a dud, but nothing about this can opener appears to be efficient or user-friendly. I find you to be friendly. For more information, click here. br>Attaching it to any can is difficult. br>Not only is it difficult to turn the handle, but it must be turned in the opposite direction than what feels natural. It shreds labels and scatters shards of shredded paper throughout the contents of the can. br>It shreds the actual can and leaves the shards in the contents of the can. br>Once you've fully opened the can (which seems to take an eternity), removing the "lid" of the can from the can opener is difficult, so you always end up with dirty hands.

Check out the one-star reviews
3/5

It is correct. It's extremely delicate. br>I expect the plastic snap parts to break at some point. Particularly useful is the lock feature. It's a flaw that I can't imagine holding up under the weight of a variety of users' hands. I'm afraid it'll break if I apply too much force. br>If it lasts another couple of years - I'm going to revise my assessment. br>The magnetic component has no effect. br>I'm kicking myself for not investing in a more robust standard can opener. br>Recent changes: I went back over the reviews that had a one-star rating and read them again. br>Everything they say is correct. br>I'm as surprised as you are by the positive feedback. Are people compensated for positive marketing reviews? br>These reviews influenced my decision to buy this item. br>I chose to write a review so that others could receive an objective assessment. Again: If things keep going well, I'm going to change my opinion.

I finally gave up after a year
3/5

I rarely give negative reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. I bought it because of the glowing reviews and was disappointed to discover that I couldn't get it to work properly. br>br>At first, I assumed I'd just have to get used to the new type of opener because it's not like the old ones. I continued to make an effort. And attempting to be creative. Then I realized I just didn't like it, but since I'd already spent the money, I didn't want to buy another one. So I tried for a year and finally, after the millionth frustration with this device, I purchased a new, classic one that works as it should just two days ago. br>br>The main issue I had with this one was that it couldn't get around a whole can without slipping off. It was also difficult to "latch" it on at first, taking about 2-minutes. Trying to get a good latch for the fifth time. When it finally latched, it only lasted a few moments before slipping away. Even worse. br>br> The opener would not work if there was a slight dent in the can or if it was slightly misshapen! It would open a small portion and then I'd have to pry the rest off with a knife, which I had to do several times. It was also aggravating because I have small children and almost always needed to get food on the table quickly. br>br>Anyway, I just wanted to leave an honest review because I was extremely frustrated with this device. I was concerned that mine might be faulty, but it appears to be in good working order. Stick to the tried-and-true openers, in my opinion. You can't go wrong with something that has worked for so long!.

It's the best can opener I've ever had
5/5

After almost four months of use, I can confidently state that this is the best can opener I've ever owned, including a variety of electric can openers. I've bought a lot of different can openers from different vendors over the years, and none of them have worked for me. There are none - have yielded results comparable to this one In fact, I'd give all of the other openers I've owned a zero or even a negative rating, with the exception of an electric opener I've had for years and would give a 3. This opener gets a 5 out of 5 and is now the only one I use. However, I will state the following: br>br> As I turn the crank, I have a habit of squeezing the opener (to the point where I have a death grip on the handles). This is due to a dreadful experience with manual can openers. To keep the cutter running through the metal, it was necessary to clamp down firmly. I have to remind myself to take it easy, relax, and take a break from the tool. It locks into place, and all you need is a little pressure to keep cutting the can while turning the handle easily. But I can see why a few disgruntled buyers smashed the opener; For years, everyone had to physically wrestle with the appliance in order to get it to work, and even then, it didn't work very well. As a result, I believe that all of us who have had such a bad experience with this device will naturally attack it with a hammer and tongs when we first get it.

I would advise anyone purchasing this amazing little tool to ease up by 90% and you will be amazed at how quick and easy it is to open Really. It's a breeze.

Don't be deceived by these five myths
3/5

reviews of 5 stars I'm not sure how this could have gotten such a good rating. My wife is basically addicted to beans (soups, chili, salads, etc. ), so we opened cans almost every day with our old junky one. So when it finally wore out, I figured this would be a good "high tech" replacement. I was sorely disappointed with myself. It worked fine for about three months, maybe five, but I believe it has lost its ability to track the can's edge more than 1/8 of the way around due to its molded plastic construction. Then, once it "jumps the track," it deforms the edge of the can in that location, making it impossible to re-use it. started. As a result, you start over and end up with a "dotted line" result all the way around. Good- It appears to be useless garbage.

This was a pain until I figured out why it only worked in certain situations
3/5

Right there is a can opener. What is it about a can opener that makes it so difficult? It works as it should on some cans. On others, it would refuse to work, slipping as the handle was turned and working its way up to the point where the blade was no longer cutting the can. To open a single can, it took several tries. I finally had the time to take a good look at it and figure out what the issue was. It turns out that cans with a thicker metal gauge put more pressure on the opener, causing the top and bottom handles to widen. The gear slips as it loses traction. I've found that pushing to the right with the heal of my hand while pressing on the top handle to the left with my fingers keeps the gears in contact. br>Poor design. I strongly discourage you from doing so.

After 15 cans, I was unable to continue
3/5

Do not make a purchase. After about 15 cans, I was completely depleted. A plastic component on the inside of the device broke.
