Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
Open standard and ring-pull cans/tins, crown-cap (beer-style) bottles, screw-top (PET) bottles and jars with ease with this single device that has five different opener functions.
Automatically attaches to the lid using 'lock-on' technology (no need to clamp it on), and the long handle provides extra grip and leverage.
Designed to be both safe (opens cans/tins without cutting the metal, leaving no sharp edges on the rim or lid) and prevent cross-contamination/maximize hygiene (opener does not come into contact with the contents of the can/tin).
Once opened, lids are removed with mini-pliers/pincers (no need to handle) - see the Auto Safety Master Opener in action in the video.
It's simple to clean (just wipe it down with a damp cloth; don't put it in the dishwasher). 9 (L) x 2 (W) inches 75 (W) x 2 (H) x 75 (W) x 75 (H 75" tall

Questions & Answers

It says "Dishwasher Safe" right above it. I bought it for that reason. However, the included instructions state that it should be washed by hand. Which is it?

I haven't bought it yet, but here's some information about it being listed as dishwasher safe even though the instructions say to hand wash it. Many kitchen items are designed to be dishwasher safe, possibly because many people will put things in the dishwasher without thinking about whether or not it is safe to do so. Dishwashers aren't kind to your dishes. They squirt extremely hot water on everything, and during the wash cycle, a gritty substance is mixed with the water to give it scouring power, effectively scraping off dried, stuck-on food. Because it is farther away from the water source, the top rack receives less power, which is why some items are referred to as top-rack. keep an eye on it Manufacturers almost always recommend hand washing over dishwasher washing because it is much gentler, even if their product is dishwasher safe. Furthermore, hand washing almost always results in whatever needs to be washed taking longer to dry than when using a dishwasher. Apart from possible discoloration, the only things you don't have to worry about damaging are silverware and other solid metal items that don't have any special coating (like Teflon or the seasoning of a cast iron skillet) and aren't mechanical.

Is this the same as the Kuhn Rikon Auto Safety Lid Lifter, but with the addition of bottle openers? Thanks. ?

Yes, the lid lifter, bottle opener, and, of course, the safety can opener are all included. It's not flimsy at all; it's built to last. I've had no problems with mine for the past year.

Is it possible to use it with oval-shaped lids or cans?

Yes, oval shapes work particularly well.

Where do these bottle openers come from?

The opener has no markings on it that say what country it was made in, as the other person mentioned. The packaging, on the other hand, clearly states that it was made in China. However, despite the fact that it is not truly "Swiss" made, this opener performs admirably, and I would buy it again.

For the first few months, I was very happy with how well this one performed
3/5

For a long time, I'd wished for a fancy can opener-- one that didn't rust and left a secure edge For the first few months, I was very happy with how well this one performed. The can opener's locking mechanism (rather than the traditional squeeze shut to connect the blades to the can) is activated by turning the knob that also opens the can: It secures the can before unscrewing it. The knob is turned backwards to unlock it. The lock mechanism will no longer engage when turned after a few months of use, and the product will be rendered useless.

There will be no shards of metal! Turning and using it is fairly simple
4/5

UPDATE FOR 2019: br>br>With regard to the issue with it not being able to open some cans, I now believe it is a matter of the technique used to attach the opener to the can. To properly "grab" the can, the opener must be horizontally level with the lid when the knob is first turned. Looking at the can and opener from the side, make sure the metal "nipple," for lack of a better term, touches the lid and the opener appears horizontal with the lid during the first turn of the knob. It's all too easy to make a mistake here. The opener will not properly grab the can if it is tilted up or down during the first knob turn. Although it may appear to have grabbed the can, it will turn more loosely and not open it. The manufacturer should improve the design to make it easier to properly attach the opener to the can. br>br>2019 UPDATE- It refused to open a can the other day. br>br> It looked like it was attempting to cut too close to the can's lip. I gave it a shot a couple of times. It was something I couldn't bring myself to open. I tried a second can, same size, same product, and it opened fine; I visually compared the two cans and they appeared to be identical, with the exception that the can that wouldn't open had a white colored lid with graphics, whereas the can that opened had a silver colored lid with no graphics. Bumblebee tuna was in both cans. Quite unusual. Now I understand why some of the reviews said it stopped opening cans after a while. Some cans appear to be made in such a way that this opener is unable to open them. For this, I'm deducting one star. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW: br>br>ORIGINAL REVIEW: br>br>ORIGINAL REVIEW: br>br br>br>After using the Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch electric can opener (76606ZA), I decided to purchase this opener. Even when following the manufacturer's instructions to not go beyond one complete rotation, that electric opener left metal slivers along the can's rim after opening. Maybe I just got a bad one, but other Amazon reviewers had the same issue, so I spent some time looking for a different "safety" can opener, and eventually settled on this one because of its multi-function capabilities. Design and versatility of the tool br>br>I've only used it to open one can so far, but it's been a pleasant experience. NO METAL SLIVERS ARE ALLOWED! Following the simple instructions makes it simple to use. After the first use, no further instructions are required. The knob is relatively simple to turn. There isn't much of a fight going on. I followed the instructions and did not turn more than one time (to avoid metal slivers), and there were no metal slivers at all! Not one! The lid also lacks a sharp edge. That makes me very happy! The jar loosener, which allows you to easily open jar lids by releasing the vacuum seal, is my second favorite feature. The other features are less useful for us, but I'm sure they'll be appreciated by others. No more banging the jar against the counter or attempting to pry it open with a knife. br>br>I'm enjoying this product so far, and I'm hoping it will last a long time (2-year warranty). If anything changes, I'll attempt to update this review.

Can opener of the highest quality
4/5

The OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener is almost as good as this one. We have an OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener, and since it is several years old and beginning to wear out, I decided to order the Kuhn Rikon as a potential replacement and to put it to the test. The Kuhn Rikon is a lot sharper, and it cuts the lid very cleanly. However, with its large rubber grip that is offset and rotated 90 degrees, I must admit that the OXO is much easier and more comfortable to use. This can opener, as well as the OXO, are both excellent choices. But at this point, I'd say the OXO is the clear winner. But we'll have to wait and see how well the Kuhn Rikon holds up over time.

Long, sharp metal shards are left behind! We've had one of these can openers for a long time, but this one leaves long ribbons of sharp metal around the can's rim
3/5

I've been pricked by several, and one was found in our food, so I'm tossing this one out. Returning is no longer possible.

From someone who is on the left side of the spectrum
5/5

I am extremely pleased with the can opener! I didn't have any cans to open that afternoon when it arrived, but I couldn't wait to try it. I keep the few metal coffee cans I get for DIY projects, and some of them have a pull-up tab on the rim, leaving about a half-inch flange. I tried it as my first attempt, without even reading the directions, and it worked. I now have a can without the edge that obstructs pouring, whether it's paint or bird seed. I had a model when the side openers were first introduced, and I could only get it to work one out of every three times. This is a good one. br>br>PS I'm a lefty, and while you have to turn clockwise, it's not difficult to get used to. Can openers and scissors are probably the worst for us lefties, but they do have leftie scissors. However, I have yet to see a left-handed can opener, so this one gets my approval.

This can opener is incredible
5/5

This was purchased to replace my most recent manual opener, which, as is customary, broke at the most inconvenient time. I was expecting a cheaply made item that would last a few months before being thrown out in the bin, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a lot heavier and sturdier than I expected, and it does its can-opening job very well. It grips the can and holds it firmly, and it even has a grip built into the handle that grabs the lid at the touch of a button once the seal is parted to open it. This, in addition to the other tools that have been combined - bottle-opening tool, jar-opening tool, bottle-opening tool, bottle-opening tool, to name a few - cap unscrewer It has become one of my most useful kitchen utensils. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> br>After a few weeks of use, the opener is still as sturdy, strong, and useful as it was when it was delivered to my kitchen. This has to be one of my favorite kitchen tools, and a neighbor used it when the power went out and she couldn't use her electric opener during the recent storms in the Pacific Northwest.
