Questions & Answers

There is one in my possession that There might be a problem with it. I use it to make stuffed peppers in a regular pot. There was a lot of black on the towel after washing it. After I put it in the drawer, I discovered rust spots on it when I used it again. Could you please let me know what you think?

The same way you would season a cast iron frying pan is to spray it with cooking spray. Then over the shortening thinly and place on the cookie sheet in an oven at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes The temperature is 350 degrees. This will develop carbon on the surface, which will protect the iron against rust for a couple hours.

Do you think this would work with the Lodge skillet/griddle combo cooker?

The 3-day test was done with the software Part of the combo cooker is a Dutch oven with a quart capacity. Things don't stick to the bottom of the pan when it is used this way. Although it's difficult to clean, in my experience, it keeps food from sticking directly to the bottom of the pan when it's being cooked. It is used as a hot pad by some people.

Would a height clearance of 39 inches be too short for fat drippings such as goose, lamb legs, duck or ?

Stack another cast iron trivet on top of it if you need more clearance for fatty drippings like goose, lamb leg, duck, or pork butt. If the marinade is under the trivet, it's perfect for roasting chicken in the Dutch oven.

How big are the holes so that it could double as a roasting rack for jalapenos?

Its largest hole measures 15/16" in diameter and is located in the center of the item. These large holes are located on the outside perimeter and have a diameter of 11/16" each. There are also two others, both 9/16" and 3/8" in diameter, near the center

A cast heat diffuser at an affordable price, must be finished by the customer
4/5

The Lodge cast-iron heat diffusers are a nice cast iron option for gas stoves, but the typical Lodge finishing is always a bit amateurish, and the pre-seasoning of the cast iron needs to be removed due to the The following items are NOT boxed in perfect condition If you are new to Lodge, here are some tips A seasoning is a waste of time. I can't really season it well, nor can I add a decent seasoning on top of it, and it's only pre-seasoned It prevents rust during shipping and storage by preparing the iron for use. When the cheap seasoning is stripped away, you will find that there are real rust spots either that were covered at the factory or that have been building up since the ship It is for this reason that Lodge cast is so cheap, and they also have a rough sandcast You can build a new layer of pre-built components if you know how to construct new layers As long as they are properly maintained and seasoned (very important), they are great inexpensive cookware and will last you a lifetime. FINISHING AND RESEASONING FINISHING AND RESEASONING AT HOME By using Easy-Strip I was able to strip both trivets Clean off the oven cleaner a couple of times (Let it soak in the foam overnight, then Photos are in the first picture). A piece of rust was hiding under the factory seasoning on one of them around the edge where the raw iron was exposed when ground in the factory (see photo). There was, however, a round pointy burr on the edge of the other trivet that could have cut my finger (see picture). Of course, it was apparently not noticed by the grinder. My dremel oxide grinding stone ground down all edges to a smooth finish, no longer do I have burrs on the edges! Furthermore, I wanted a smoother finish to prevent unnecessary abrasions on my other cookware, which is why I used a drill disc sander with 80, 120, and 240 grit discs. There were still pock marks and a few minor divets after this sanding, but with this sanding we smoothed out the texture of the factory sand In addition, this sanding helped remove almost all of the factory seasoning remaining on the piece. In addition to being washed and cleaned, the raw cast iron was conditioned using coconut oil by baking on 4 layers of seasoning. These helped create a dark bronze tint when finished (see photos). I was impressed with the cooking performance As a heat diffuser when using other cast iron pans and grills on gas burners, trivets serve this purpose. I use the trivets underneath the grill of my Lodge griddle to keep it from sliding around. Copper diffusers would be better, but they're too expensive. Despite the fact they don't reduce hot spots I found they reduce overheating and burn when making pancakes on the griddle side of them. Together they help to even out browning on pancakes on the griddle side. My experience with a Gas Stove has shown that those components are very important when heating a Moka pot of coffee. Prior to this machine, it took 7 minutes for the Moka pot to heat up over raw burners, but the coffee sometimes had a burned taste and the coffee sprayed out of the vent holes too fast. It takes 10 minutes for the diffuser to heat up on the same heat setting, but the coffee does not burn and slowly oozes and bubbles from the vents evenly due to the lower heat setting, so checking progress is easier. This is so much better and provides an even surface for you to rest your pot on (see picture). A few pros In case of recurrence The heat is diffused effectively on a gas burner if they are properly seasoned. It has a good diameter, and it covers a standard burner very well. The design of the hole-to-hole heat transfer is good, with heat distributed evenly to all edges. It is an incredibly low price. In addition to hooking onto burner grills, the feet also help prevent the grills The cons are It takes them a while to heat up effectively, which means that you will have to wait longer for your cast iron pan or griddle to get hot. It has a poor factory finish that hides rust spots and has some rough edges that are potentially unsafe to handle. As the finish ages, it becomes discolored and dingy, especially in the center, due to direct heat and exposure to raw gas flames. As a whole In terms of price they are a solid choice as a basic heat diffuser, especially for use with Moka pots on gas burners. It's just a matter of learning how to stripe and refinish Ensure that cast iron is properly seasoned and maintained before buying. We invite you to grind and sand the surfaces smooth if you have the tools and time!.

For the purpose of substituting , I bought two of these
5/5

The gas burner covers on my stove would look better with these than the one's made of solid cast iron The stove, originally made of cast iron, has been converted into a modern My new flame gauges fit perfectly, allowing me to see how much flame there is.

Cast your eyes on the actors! This rack offers more than just the convenience of a meat trivet
4/5

However, be sure to check it carefully when you receive yours. It took me only a short time to notice the bad casting when I own three of them. A metal glob appeared to be on top of it. Even so, I expected the quality control team to catch this error before the message is Although, Amazon has taken care of it. In addition to heat dissipating, they can be used to cover stock pots as they enable the heat to be spread around. The roast is too long for one person to make a large roast in a pan, so I use two people. Those parts will rust if you do not take care of them. There is a lack of quality in the factory coating. The same way you would care for a new cast iron piece, I would scrub the pan hard, rub some oil on it and put it in the oven. As a weight, you can also use it to weigh down bacon (by placing two forks one on each side, so the bacon can be easily moved), pressurize burgers, and if you are adventurous enough, use it to roast chicken vertically. The copper pipe should fit the holes, so you can purchase one at your hardware store. Would you mind sharing one of your spares? Placing a plate under it or a plastic or styrofoam spoon rest will serve as a spoon rest. It keeps the moisture below the trevet so that it does not heat up. Keeping the top neat and tidy while cooking is easy - all you need to do is wipe it with a damp cloth during the cooking process. Rinsing the top with hot water and letting it dry is pretty much it. Don't forget to get one more!.

This is the real deal
5/5

You can have this in your Dutch oven or out of it (should you capitalize "Dutch"? This are useful on the stove top for warming, and they are great for use as trivets on the counter. It's a given. The structure is sturdy and should easily last a hundred or more years. I won't worry if you're planning on staying around for a long time. It's quite possible for this one to live to 200 years of age. *Bag sale*Bag sale. Definitely a purchase I would make I recommend it.

DIFFUSER FOR GAS HEAT TRANSFER (Use as a heat exchanger)
5/5

This trivet/diffuser transfers heat from the middle of the pot to the base of the pan, which prevents scorching in the middle. If you simmer your food for a long time on gas burners, you can experience scorching in the center of the pot. Use this trivet on low heat and you won't have scorching in the middle of the pot or pan. Additionally, you can use a large fry pan on a small electric burner and put it on the I bought some of this 'heat diffuser' as Xmas presents and I am so happy with it. Considering that it is made of cast iron, it will rust if you do not thoroughly dry it after washing it, then heat it on the burner to get the moisture out. All it needs is that. But, if you plan to use cast iron cookware and season the trivet, then you can do so.
