We only end up getting rid of them when they become covered with grease or other residue from the kitchen. I think these are well worth the price. These trivets are not great quality, even though I like cork trivets. The one I have is beginning to crumble, and I have to handle it carefully to prevent it from breaking into two pieces. I have owned other cork trivets that have lasted many years, so I can say from experience that these won't last.
