Questions & Answers

What size bag should I use for this scoop?

I have the plastic containers that resemble movie theater popcorn boxes, and I fill each one with several scoops. The important thing to remember about this story is that the un-released information is still classified as confidential. Popcorn kernels fall through the holes, and to remove them, you shake the popcorn back and forth, causing some to fall off. To put it another way, it's not as if you're trying to fill a bag with a single scoop. I hope this has been of assistance.

One scoop holds approximately how many ounces of popcorn?

I'm not sure how much the scooper holds in terms of ounces. I can only say that a scoop of popcorn fills about half of a size one bag, depending on your scooping skills.

What is the maximum amount of popcorn this scooper can scoop in one hour?

Your SPH (scoops per hour) will increase by 37% if you use the Speed Scoop. At this price, it's a significant increase; I've seen speed scoops sell for twice as much and only increase SPH by ten percent. 15%. The fact that the Benchmark Speed Scoop is made of aluminum also helps. Your scooping arm will thank you for being lighter than those stainless steel models.

It's time to put on a show! This scoop was purchased to go with a popcorn popping kettle that I had purchased two years prior
5/5

br>br>Back in the day, I worked for General Cinemas Theater Corporation at two different locations, where I spent a lot of time not only selling popcorn to customers from behind the concession counter, but also popping it fresh on a professional Cretors Popcorn Kettle several times a week! br>br>As a result, I'm very familiar with popcorn! (And I eat it as a snack!) )br>br>When I was forced to retire and had to start living a less active lifestyle, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of getting a real popcorn kettle and making my own movie popcorn at home while watching classic movies (mostly old westerns and sci-fi flicks on Amazon Prime). br>br>When I did, I purchased two salt shakers as well as this scoop. br>br>The key to movie theater-quality popcorn is to use high-quality ingredients, such as high-quality Ohio yellow popping corn and high-quality oils (I prefer to use Butter Flavored Crisco as my popping oil because you don't have to make it greasy by adding melted butter and still get the buttery flavor) in the right proportions at the right heat. (The Cretors Kettle had a precise measuring and oil delivery system for perfectly popped corn, and it ran at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. ) In the late 1800s, Cretors came up with the idea for an automatic popcorn kettle. )br>br>Now that I had a good electric kettle for home use, I needed a scoop to help sort the popcorn from the occasional unpopped seeds. br>br>This scoop is a little big for the smaller popper I bought (I'm kicking myself for not getting a bigger kettle), but it does the job perfectly. Whether you use a stovetop pan or kettle, or a dedicated self-contained kettle like I do now, you'll appreciate the scoop's ability to sort and serve hot popcorn as it pops. It works equally well with bowls and paper bags (such as the home-use carnival style popcorn bags or generic brown paper lunch bags). It's easy to manipulate and clean in the sink or dishwasher because it's made of heavy-gauge aluminum with a plastic handle. When you're using it, it also protects your hand from getting burned or contaminating the product with your oils. It's exactly like the scoops we used at the theater all those years ago! (As well as, as I've noticed, in today's mega-cinemas. ) )br>br>If you frequently pop your own popcorn for family movie nights or parties, or if you have a commercial popper at your place of business, this is a must-have tool! This scoop comes highly recommended! br>br>.

I wish this had come with my popcorn machine; it'd be so much easier to avoid picking out the Old Maids! I can't believe it took me so long to get this! I have a popcorn machine, and using the scoop that came with it was a real pain
5/5

It was scoop-shaped, not flat on the bottom, so it was difficult to get a large amount at once, and it scooped all the seeds. Bleah. You don't get a lot at a time with this, and even if you do, you lose a lot when you shake it to get the seeds to fall through the holes, but that's not a big deal. It's worth a few extra turns with this scoop if you can give kids a bowl full of popped popcorn with no seeds. I only wish there was a left-handed option available as well. br>br>I haven't noticed any issues with the handle yet, but I'm wondering if it's because of the popcorn oil getting worked into the threads, as some other reviewers have. A threaded metal piece is hidden inside the wooden handle, where the metal handle's screw end is attached. It appears to be of high quality. As a result, I believe the oil is assisting in the loosening of the thing.

Works
3/5

For a smaller home popper, I needed some custom adjustments. It's well-made, but nothing to write home about. The handle was loose, which was a good thing because the metal part had to be bent to fit my home theater style popper better. It was difficult to bend the handle because it was difficult to grip in my bench vise; I also had to fold the sides in a little, but that was simple. It works much better in my popper after I adjust the handle angle. It's still a little too big for it, but that's due to the fact that the home popper isn't that big. It does its job of separating the unpopped kernels, so it fulfills its purpose.

Where has this been for the entirety of my popcorn existence?! This is a far superior product to the free one that came with my popcorn popper! It may surprise you (as it did me), but those tiny holes are for the unpopped kernels to fall through rather than into your bucket! Yes, I do eat mine, but the bucket is a different story
5/5

Don't judge; you'd be looking for a scoop like this if you didn't! Seriously, it's incredibly sturdy and well-designed to shovel popcorn into a bucket in an ergonomically correct manner. or one of those teeny-tiny sissy bags, which I have no idea who uses! Simply order it; it will arrive in a plain brown Amazon box, ensuring that no one will be aware of your guilty popcorn pleasure.

I bought this to replace the scoop that came with my Great Northern popcorn machine, and it's almost perfect
4/5

When I got to the bottom of the batch of popcorn, the original scoop kept picking up far too many unpopped kernels. br>This item is made of a heavier gauge metal, which is very nice and gives it a nice heft when picked up. The angle of the handle isn't quite right, which is why I didn't give it five stars. To create a natural scooping motion, it should be slightly out to the side and slightly "up. " Because the old scooper's handle angle is nearly perfect, I'll take some pliers to the Benchmark and bend it to match - Then everything will be perfect;.

For popcorn machines, this is a must-have
5/5

When I first got my popcorn machine, I wasn't sure if a scoup like this was required. They weren't, according to some reviews I read. But now that I've gotten one of these, I'm glad I did. Why? The solution is straightforward: Because the popcorn machines are rectangular, securing popcorn kernels from the edges with a rounded scoup is nearly impossible. It's also extremely well-made. It's built to last and can be put in the dishwasher. Believe me when I say this: If you get one of these, you'll be grateful.

This is the right popcorn scooper for you! I'm on my third popcorn scoop for my 8 oz popping cart, and I'm hoping the third time is the charm
5/5

This is an excellent tip. It's a good size for the machine, as opposed to the others I had. I like how this feels in your hand and how easy it is to use with my machine; I also like how the holes allow any kernels you scoop up to fall through. We use it once a week, and I've noticed that now that I have this scoop, I'm not finding as many popcorn kernels in my popcorn bag. I would strongly suggest it. Hand-washing is required, but it is not difficult to clean.
