I'm curious about the scoop's size. ?

I bought this scoop to spread ice melt on my icy sidewalks, steps, and driveway in Minnesota. The scoop itself is smaller than I had anticipated (3 inches across at its widest point next to the guard, and 6 inches from tip to guard). It works well for scooping and distributing, but not a lot at once; I find myself scooping pellets from the bag into a pail and distributing them with my hand; shaker containers do not work well for me, and slinging a handful of pellets with your hand is much faster and the pellets are distributed more uniformly.

It's ideal for scooping ice melt into an applicator from a 50-pound bag. The shield between the scoop and the handle prevents spillage and ice melt on one's hands or gloves. I strongly advise others to do so.

This is a fantastic alternative to using a metal scoop

Two of these were used to replace a metal ice scoop in the office ice machine. We bought two so that we could put one in the dishwasher every night and have them cleaned at least once a day. The hand shield is particularly appealing. In addition, the scoop size is ideal for 16-ounce plastic cups!.
