My statement reads, "Made in Mexico."
This is most definitely NOT a nonstick surface, despite what the item description claims. It's regular cast iron, so you'll need parchment paper or some sort of surface lining to keep it from sticking. It's no different from any other tortilla press in this regard, except for the false item description that claims it's nonstick, which cast iron isn't.
Butter paper is a term I'm unfamiliar with.
Even though it's difficult to tell, I always preseason mine.

It made making homemade tortillas very simple for me. One thing to keep in mind is that if you have never made tortillas at home before, you should probably look up videos to see how it's done. It was my first time, which made things a lot easier in the end.
5 So this is what happened after three days of using total garbage, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
I'm in love with this tortilla press! It's incredibly simple to set up; it took me less than a minute. The instructions include pictures in case you are unable to read English, which is fantastic! To begin, I wrapped my tortillas in cling wrap, which worked perfectly with the presser. In my case, the tortilla ingredients may require a few more drops of water than the recipe specifies. Because I am new to owning a tortilla press, I needed to get the correct size of ball in order to get the exact size I desired. I like that this presser allows me to make a variety of sizes for various meals. The tortillas are so delicious that I'm not sure I'll ever buy store-bought tortillas again. The Presser has a nice, solid feel to it. This purchase has exceeded our expectations!.
When I added the amount of dough I use to manually roll tortillas, it came out to be about two inches thick. They were known as "baby tacos" by me. I spread it out a bit more after doubling it. I'm not a big fan of tortillas that are too thick. I had to use a lot of dough to get it to the right size, so it resembled pita bread. I've only used it twice, and I'm going back to rolling my own. I combined it with a store-bought mix and my mother-in-law's recipe.
The quality is excellent. The best option is to use cast iron. What better way to start the day than with a tortilla press full of fresh tortillas?.
The plates, as well as the handle, do not line up properly. In addition, the plates are not cast evenly or are warped. This means that the plates only touch in a small area, leaving a large gap between them that is too large to press a tortilla through. So when you put the dough ball in to flatten it, it's thin in some areas like a tortilla and thick in others like a pita bread. What good is a tortilla press if it can't press tortillas? br>br>Because the plates aren't smooth, you'll need to press the dough with a bag or a silpat mat to avoid a messy cleanup. The bolts that hold it together are too small (weak), and it was difficult to get the handle on because every piece of metal, including the handle, was poorly cast or warped. The manufacturer's packaging is too flimsy for the very heavy tortilla press, and as a result, it arrived torn. Although the outer shipping box was bent, it was not ripped. Amazon needs to improve its packing skills. I've included information about the packaging in my review, but I'm not letting Amazon's poor packaging affect my overall rating of the item. The bottom line is that this tortilla press is extremely poorly constructed. br>br>The instructions were simple to follow. If you're happy with the item, you'll find an insert in the package asking for a positive review. If you are dissatisfied, the website instructs you to go to the order page and send a message to the seller, but this is not an option. Due to the fact that this item was sold by tiptopdeals and shipped by Amazon, there is no way to contact the seller from the order page. br>br>Two stars because it appears to be heavy-duty and comes with clear instructions, but it is ineffective for the intended purpose. COMPARISON WITH ANOTHER ITEM: br>br>COMPARISON WITH ANOTHER ITEM: br>The difference between this and the Tortillada brand 10 inch tortilla press is night and day. The Tortillada comes in a box that is sturdy enough to hold the item without ripping apart, and the instructions and packing materials inside the product box, as well as the box itself, have a professional appearance and design. All of the pieces are cast in a uniform manner. The tortilla press plates also fit together snugly all the way around, resulting in a flat, even tortilla. This is a very well-made item, and to my surprise, it was made in Germany rather than China. This is a high-quality piece of gear.
It was a breeze to put together - When I got the plates, they were already screwed together, so all I had to do was screw the handle on, which was as simple as slipping one screw through the hole and tightening it down. I learned how to use it from a YouTube video, but it also comes with instructions! This is a fantastic product that I highly recommend.
Fantastic value for money! With this cool gadget, I had a lot of fun making fresh tortillas. It is heavy and sturdy because it is made of cast iron. The shipping was also very quick. It comes highly recommended from me.
