This pot heats up quickly and is great for broth (I haven't tried oil), but I thought it was a little too big for cheese or chocolate fondue. With the purchase of two 7" oval soup bowls, I was able to solve the problem quickly and make better use of this pot. The 7" bowls fit snugly in the center of the splash ring (6" diameter), effectively turning the pot into a double boiler. I usually make the broth in the pot, then make the cheese in a double boiler on the stove, and then transfer it to the preheated bowl on top of the pot. We simply remove the bowl when we've finished with the cheese and move on to the next course - There is no need to reheat the fondue and there is no need to clean the fondue pot. Using the second bowl (and hot water in the pot), I make chocolate. The chocolate in the bowl stays smooth and warm for a long time, leftover chocolate can be refrigerated in the bowl, and cleanup is simple. br>br>I am pleased with my purchase and would enthusiastically recommend this pot.
First and foremost, the heating is excellent; it heats quickly and, more importantly, safely, from warm to over 400 degrees. Take a close look at the'more pictures' section to see the three-stage system: the element is welded to the bottom of the pot, the temperature guide slides in, and the electric cord is breakaway with a hook and magnet. With the two klutzes who live with me, the pot has never fallen or slid off the table. We started a Fondue Friday tradition in our family and have tried everything. Chocolate, Mexican cheese, a pot of boiling broth, and a pan of frying. Candles only do chocolate and cheese; sterno, if not used carefully, will burn the chocolate and only heat up to the temperature needed to fry for 30 minutes. maybe. Consider adding soup or baked beans to the buffet table in addition to the description. The cord is a little short, but a heavy-duty extension fixed that, and the safety features take care of any concerns. For a group of 3 to 6 adults, this is the best option. Doing a sweet is one of our favorites. Everyone got to dip and fry their favorite shrimp, scallops, pork, chicken, and beef while choosing their steamed vegetables, sauces, and rice type. Amazon's shipping had this arriving quickly and in excellent condition.
So far, we've only tried it with cheddar cheese, but it's fantastic! Standing around in the kitchen with people, dipping anything that can be skewered on the end of a fork into cheese and talking is a lot of fun. I'd like to get a second one for parties and do something fancy with it. br>br>The only disadvantages of this product are the short cord and the difficult-to-clean pot. br>br>The fact that it's electric appeals to both of us. We don't have to buy fuel, so open flames aren't ideal in a small apartment with limited counter space. The heating element does an adequate job of keeping the cheese warm and melted. I've never used it with more than four people, but I don't think it'd work well with a large group. Because the pot is small, only two people can easily dip at a time. br>br>If you've never tried fondue, now is the time! You'd be surprised at how easy it is to make a tasty dip, and how many things taste great when dipped in it. However, instead of regular bread, I'd suggest using a thicker, less crumbly bread product. You can use flavored bagels, which work really well.
My own two children and I have done fondue before, but when I married a man with three children, our fondue pot was no longer large enough to accommodate all of us. When I saw this one, I knew I had to give it a shot. We can all eat a fondued meal together and have a great time doing so. It's a great way to take your dinner time more slowly and spend quality time with your family. The oil or chocolate stays at the perfect temperature, and the magnetic release cord gives me peace of mind because I know the pot won't tip over if one of the kids trips over it. It's extremely well-made. We absolutely adore it!.
My thoughts on the film are a bit mixed: Order a second pot if you'll be serving this to more than 3 or 4 people. It's perfect for one or two people. When I used it with three or four people, I ran into the following issues:
- a lack of forks (unless you plan on eating for an extended period of time)br>- Food falls off forks; forks should be more substantial. br>- If there are more than four forks in the pot at once, toss the fork ring; it only makes things worse. br>However, if there are only one or two people:
- can handle four forks from the SAME direction at once (again, discard the fork ring)br>- The pot will stay hot and you'll be well fed if you alternate forks between cooking and eating. br>- bok choy is a good example of a vegetable that is both fresh and crunchy. br>- Small pieces of meat will cook quickly in this pot; I have not tried it with oil, cheese, or chocolate. I simply boil water with spices or make a broth.
Excellent value for money. We wanted to re-enact a scene from the film. We were having a house party in the 1970s and needed an electric fondue. I did some research online and this appeared to be the best deal. It was not a letdown in the least. Excellent quality for the price. We're so glad we went with an electric instead of the old-fashioned gel and fire, etc. It looks fantastic and has performed admirably for us on several occasions. I'm very happy.
Following a fantastic fondue experience at La Grange Saint-Germain, We returned to New York from Paris with the intention of reactivating our old fondue pot from the late 1970s. With the ineffective alcohol burner, uneven heat, and popping oil, it was a disaster. A mess. So we did some research online and came across this Rival pot, which was perfect! Gives off an even faster heat, making it all the more enjoyable. Safflower oil is what we use. Simple fondue that doesn't require much effort. Cook at a predetermined temperature. Low leg design that is both stable and comfortable. br>Because it's fully immersible, it's easy to clean. Stainless steel only, so no teflon issues; 8 fondue forks included, so two people can cook a large number of pieces at once; great value; as reliable as our toaster oven Very well done. Make a simple bernaise sauce for one of the sauces, and a savory remoulade mayonnaise for the other. This unit means the world to me. I am completely satisfied Simply remove it from the package, fill it with oil, and cook.
