How does the battery cover on this can opener open so that the battery can be installed?

I was able to open it because I had previously learned how to do so. Using two thumbs, slide the battery cover down, open it, and insert the battery. There's no need for any other tools; it's that easy!

Is there a limit to the size of cans that this electric can opener can open?

I tried opening cans of various sizes and had no problems.

Is there a way to disable this? I like it, but I can't seem to turn it off. ?

You place it on top of the can lid and press the button only once. Allow it to complete a full circle around the can before pressing the button. The inner wheel retracts and shuts down.

Will the edges of the can opener cut have sharp edges?

There will be no sharp edges, I assure you, my friend. I have never owned a better electric can opener. I've been using it once or twice a week, up to four cans at a time, since Christmas; it's very easy to cut off the lid, and the design is fantastic!

Unsatisfied with the cut that was not completed

I gave mine back because it couldn't open any of the cans I tried. It became stuck a number of times. The majority of the time, multiple re-writes were required. begins to completely encircle the can.
