The opener is made in China and has no indication of the amp rating. or watts. Both of these will change depending on the motor's load. An amp can be used to calculate watts. Measure the amps and convert them to watts in both no-load and loaded conditions.

WELL! When did predictability become a thing of the past? You have a can opener that gets too close to a pan and turns into a Picasso, don't laugh, I'm a dude, so according to society I shouldn't be able to do much more than scratch myself without setting off a three-alarm fire, but I turned our old can opener into a work of modern art and needed a new one. I was more than disappointed with the pricing structure of can openers after making the nightmare trip to the local *mart. There were those who sharpened knives, played music, and I believe could launch a satellite to Mars, all while opening cans, I believe. So, laughing to myself, I went home and ordered something from Amazon. Now it's time for a formal assessment. Cans are opened with this can opener. well! That's something I'd like to stress once more. I bought a can opener specifically for opening cans, and it does a good job. It can open small, large, and even extremely tall cans. I didn't try the knife sharpener because we used to have those knives that a sharp-dressed dude came to our house once a year and sharpened for us. The best part is that it didn't cost me a half-day's pay and it can open cans. I don't have any issues with anything falling off, and it's well constructed. To sum it up, this can opener opens cans and does so admirably.
The word "warning" isn't very effective. With three dogs and seven cats, I have a lot of cans to open. This can opener is useless; it will not open any cans if the paper that surrounds them tears! Getting the can started is a complete pain! It's also a pain to use the blade to pierce the top of the can! It takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to open four cans on average. Proctor, this is completely absurd. Silex should be ashamed of themselves for releasing this product. I've since discarded the Proctor Siex and replaced it with a Hamilton Beach can opener, which is incredibly simple to use and performs admirably.

The magnetic piece that keeps the lid in place is always popping off! So, if I am not careful and remove the can after it has been opened, I will spill some of the contents. It's quite a hassle! It shouldn't be able to come off so easily. My previous can opener worked flawlessly for six years before finally breaking. It's been 7 years since I've had it! We threw it away before I could place an order for another! I couldn't recall the brand either, but proctor silex is a well-known household name, so I went ahead and bought it! It's obvious that this is a low-grade can opener because it's awful! In the not-too-distant future, I will purchase a new one! br>Spend a little more money on a newer or better model! This is not one I would recommend; it may have worked for others, but not for us!.
This is the second time I've used it, and both times I've been disappointed. Getting the blade to line up with the can is difficult. The can rotates back and forth (it is not dented or damaged), and when the lid is cut, shards of metal protrude from the lid.
On the back of the unit, there is a built-in knife sharpener. After swiping the blades, all of my knives were nicely sharpened. 5 times in a row, and I remained focused. It's easy to clean. The can opener blade is simple to remove and replace.
I don't use the can opener very often (maybe once every couple of weeks), but I have terrible arthritis in my hands and little strength in them, so I didn't force it. I was about to open a dog food can. This piece of equipment will be discarded. It's a bad bargain.
