Bisphenol A and phthalates should not be present in any plastic sold. I have read that polypropylene is currently the least toxic plastic to be used in contact with food, and that it is also the least unsuitable plastic. Despite the extra trays, the dehydrator still works well without them, and the dehydrator is able to function perfectly with them.
