The skillet is 3 inches deep, and the lid is rounded, giving you a total of 4 inches of cooking space. To play with, you'll need 5 inches. Makes some of the best fried chicken around, which is a local specialty. We don't fry food on a regular basis. This skillet is fantastic.
For the past 40 years, I've been frying bacon in Presto rectangular skillets a pound at a time, but I start with about 1/2 inch of saved and filtered drippings. That way, I'm frying in a pool of oil (as if I were frying chicken) and the hot spots in the pan are evened out. However, unlike chicken, I cook at a much lower temperature - like 275- 325 Although cooking at a lower temperature takes longer, the bacon is crispier in the end. not just around the edges (a longer frying time evaporates more water). When cooking at a higher temperature, you may have to "dodge the pops," as when frying chicken.
That's not the case. These days, there isn't much manufactured in the United States. Sorry. But this pan appeals to me. It came in handy while we waited for our new stove to arrive. It is going to be saved.

I had the smaller version of this Presto Electric Skillet and enjoyed it, but the size was too small for me, so I ordered the larger skillet. I've gone back to my smaller, older skillet after several failed attempts to use it. Only the outside edges of this skillet appear to be cooking; The center of the skillet, as well as about half of the skillet as a whole, barely cooks anything. It serves no purpose. Because of the uneven cooking temperatures, it's impossible to fry bacon. Stir frying is about the only thing you can do with this skillet. When only part of the skillet is cooking at the temperature setting, attempting to cook any type of meat, poultry, or other food is a disaster, not to mention potentially dangerous to one's health. When you look under the skillet, you'll notice that the heating elements only go around the outside perimeter, with no element running through the center. Following our attempts to use this skillet, it is clear that those elements are insufficient to heat the entire skillet surface.
Despite never exceeding 400 degrees Fahrenheit or using metal tools. The coating is peeling away from the internal heating element. br>br>Only 8 months of use. br>br>It was fun for a while.
This was purchased to replace a previous brand that had become non-functional. STICK turns into STICK. This skillet is everything you've been looking for in a skillet. Before using the skillet, make sure you "season" it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Almost everything in this is cooked by me. It's simple to clean and evenly heats. My purchase has made me extremely happy. br>However, I make it a point to clean it myself so that my children do not scratch it. I'm hoping it will last a long time, and I'm sure it will. br>This skillet is the perfect size for my family of seven.
I got this for my wife's birthday, and when she went to wash it for the first time, the glass lid exploded in the drying rack, covering the entire kitchen in small glass pieces. It took her all morning to clean it up, and we'll probably never get it all out of the rugs. Happy birthday honey, sorry your gift sucked, I know things don't last as long these days, but not even getting to use it, now that's just great,.
I originally purchased this to use outside because I despise frying. When I had company over, I thought it would be perfect for pancakes. Advantages: br>br> It's easy to clean with no soap and just hot water. I like the see-through lid, and it's a good size. The fact that it is light weight turns out to be a disadvantage. If there's electricity, this is probably a good option for camping.
Cons: Around an inch from the pan's sides, the heating element circles it. Cooking is uneven, which is fine for ground beef that will be chopped and stirred as it cooks, or for liquids that will be simmered. Because of the uneven heating, it's useless for browning anything large. Pancakes are also a no-no. Disposal of products is another issue. I try not to buy small appliances because they are so difficult to dispose of when they reach the end of their useful lives. br>If I could "gift" it to someone, I would. I don't use it nearly enough to justify the amount of space it takes up. I would not have bought it if I had known then what I know now. br>As a final thought.
TERRIBLE. I'd like to share some information about my electric skillet with you. It's a nightmare situation. The plug that goes into the skillet appears to be functional. However, the temperature in this skillet is appalling. It doesn't cook anything on low, and when I turn it on high, I have to keep an eye on it or everything will burn. This skillet does not have a Medium setting. I purchased the previous one from Macy's and it served me well for many years. Once I have the funds, I will place an order for a new one. I'd return it, but the price was too high. And the last time I tried to return something, I got the runaround, so I kept it and will eventually throw it away. I made every effort to place a different order. I've already given you a score of 200. I believe the 00 order will be satisfactory. I adore the cookbooks, as well as a few other items. However, the skillet is yours to keep; it's terrible.
I bought two of these because I frequently use two of them when we entertain. We only needed one for normal use, so I only opened and assembled one after they arrived. I needed both pans a little over a month after receiving them. Unfortunately, when my husband went to put the second one together, we discovered that one of the holes where the handles are attached had been stripped, preventing the handle from being secured as tightly as it should have been. When I tried to exchange the product for a new one, the site told me that the return or exchange window had closed. The inability to exchange the pan was frustrating, but a lesson was learned. It's not uncommon for me to buy gifts or things I know I'll need well before I actually need them, so knowing when you can return items you won't use right away is crucial. br>The first pan I used was exactly what I had hoped for. It's big and strong, and it keeps you warm. The items were delivered on time as promised.
br>I purchased this Presto 16-piece set. Amazon has a new Inch Electric Skillet. I've seen these Non-Profit Organizations before. Stick Coatings have been known to deteriorate in the past. As a result, I was being extra cautious. br>br>I never had it over 375 degrees, and it was almost always between 200 and 300 degrees. br>I always used a plastic spatula that I purchased specifically for this pan. In this pan, I have never used a metal utensil. br>Water, dish soap, and luffa were used to clean it. There should never be any kinks in the scrubbing sponge.
Uused the pan a couple of times a week, but the nonstick coating is now 95% gone from the bottom cooking surface. br>The sides are still gleaming, but the bottom coating has deteriorated or vanished entirely. br>br>Customer service is HORRIBLE, and they outright lied to me about the photos I sent - I was asked to send them something, and I did. br>They claim it's food buildup despite the fact that high-resolution photos show it's spotless and OBVIOUSLY NOT food buildup. br>Worst customer service I've ever encountered. Presto, you're a jerk. br>br>Edit = I added three new photos - to make a clean image - However, it appears that it has been left out. I'll give it another shot.
