The Sharp Microwave Drawer Oven is a brilliant design that eliminates the need to bend down to load or operate the controls. However, the tilt-out control panel's execution detracts from this convenience. The surface material appears to be low-quality, and the text is medium gray on black, making it difficult to read. In addition, pressing the upper control panel causes it to close on occasion. On your finger, at times. Sharp could have spent a little more on parts and turned the panel into a true showpiece. With the help of a simple push-button, you can A panel backlight and a button-dampened cassette door mechanism would have transformed an annoyance into a work of art.
I've had this microwave in my home for about three years and have had no problems with it; the interior space is much smaller than previous microwaves I've owned, but it's large enough for everything I've tried to put into it. It can hold a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup, large glass mixing bowls, and other items; you won't be cooking a turkey in it, but who does that in a microwave anyway? Sharp manufactures the "guts" for all other drawer microwave manufacturers, so there's no reason to pay more for a higher-end name brand unless you prefer the look. The Sharp's internal mechanicals are identical. Despite regular use, we've had no problems with ours. br>br>In my vacation rental, I recently added a second Sharp drawer microwave. The drawer style microwave is easy to install, is low enough for children to use, and eliminates the need for a large, unsightly microwave on the counter. The only reason I can't give this a five-star rating is because the price is outrageous.
After a kitchen remodel only 5 years ago, we needed to replace our microwave, and this is the upgraded replacement for the exact model we're replacing. The measurements, codes, and drawer microwave are all the same, with the exception of the appearance. Unfortunately, we were not prepared for the change in the touch panel's ability to be flipped down and up. They didn't mention the electrical box behind the flip panel, which made it difficult to slide it into our built-in space. My husband had to jigsaw part of our wood cabinet support due to this unmentioned change; thankfully, it is hidden by the microwave flip touch panel, but we may have a problem if they decide to change dimensions again. The new appearance of the flip panel itself does not impress us. For a sleek new look, it appears to be a little cheap. We were also disappointed when our microwave arrived, as it was packed with multiple broken pieces of Styrofoam and had a major bend and a dent, both of which my husband was able to fix, but we believe it should not have been packed so badly. On a more positive note, I am blown away by the microwave's power and the way it cooks.
We've only had this microwave for a little more than a year, and it's already failed us. You can only use the microwave right now if you close the door. Because our new kitchen was literally built around this size microwave, I'm afraid I won't be able to replace it with a different brand because the sizes are so different. It's hard not to admire their one-year warranty, which appears to cover only how long it will work. This is not something I would recommend to others.
What a hassle! I bought this item (and was really looking forward to it because of the product reviews), installed it, and happily plugged it in. I followed the welcome instructions on the dash and put something in the microwave, but it did nothing! I'm annoyed because I don't want to pay for someone to come out and fix it. I spent a lot of money on it and would prefer to exchange it for a new one, but Amazon does not allow that. HELP!.
It's a drawer, as the name suggests. I get it. I prefer the convenience of a drawer that slides out over a cabinet. a door opening (ours is in a low-lying island). The issue I'm having is that we paid extra for the larger microwave, which came in two sizes: 24" and 30"; we chose the 30" and ordered custom cabinets to match. A 24" microwave with a 30" faceplate was delivered to us. The microwave isn't any bigger than a standard microwave oven. We would have ordered the smaller one if we had known that and used the extra space for cabinets if we had known that.
When it was first installed, it was extremely quiet, but now it is. My wife loves that she no longer has to reach up and open a M/O door above the stove. It's a fantastic way to warm things up. When first installed, it was extremely quiet when closed, but now it closes with a thud. Sharp was contacted regarding a warranty issue. After several failed attempts, they dropped the ball- After two months of waiting, no one has been dispatched to fix it. It's possible that I made a $1200 error. I'm not certain yet. br>.
This microwave took the place of one that we had installed when we built our home in 2011. The only difference is that due to a minor change in the new microwave, the cabinet had to be notched out before it could be installed into the opening; the display is now hidden behind a flap that must be opened to use the new model. In my opinion, the price is way too high.
