Using the adapter that I got, I put co2 into my soda stream machine cylinders. The adapter works well for me. After putting the empty cylinder in the freezer for at least an hour, I emptied it. A very cold temperature makes the filling process more efficient. Another thing is that your big co2 tank needs to be connected to an inverter tube. Then go to Youtube where there are plenty of videos explaining how to transfer CO2. One of the best is how to fill up a G1/2 CO2 Cylinder with a refill adapter.
I have a 20lb tank and it fits, but it sounds like your connector is a little unconventional.
Here are the threads for a Soda Stream tank.

Bubble water is one of my family's favorite drinks. The amount of money we spent buying Topo Chico every week was unreal. My patience finally ran out when they doubled their prices over night. However, we were unable to return. In my house, my kids don't get soda, but I make them juice with bubble water almost every day. For some reason, my wife cannot take plain water without carbonation. That's the case. The AARKE carbonator is what I finally had to have. On the other hand, the tanks of CO2 were very expensive. That's the case. Shipment of $25) In order to receive the food grade CO2 at Airgas I had to swap/fill the 20lb tank It is now possible for me to For a little over a dollar, I can fill my CO2 canisters. This is how it is - NOW - Our feeling of freedom in using the carbonator is the key to making use of it The amount of water we drink a day is about 3 liters. My wife and I each drink a bit over 1 liter, and the rest is for my children. Water consumption is easily twice, if not three times, what it was when Topo Chico was here. You should be very careful when you open the valves to allow the gas inside to escape slowly. Despite the fast filling speed of the CO2 cartridges, they still hold a lot of gas.
When I bought this, I just thought the hose and extra gauge would be of use to me. I was hoping for a gauge that would also indicate low side pressure so I could see how much pressure is in the bottle. This wasn't what I was looking for, but the biggest complaint I have is that I could not consistently fill the new bottle cylinders of sodastream. I have read that you must start slowly filling the soda stream bottle or the new "safety feature" will activate and stop gas from entering the Due to the use of only regular ball valves, this rig does not have enough control to crack the valves slowly enough to flow the gas without activating the safety features. Out of the 6 times I attempted it, I was only partially successful in 2 cases CO2 to a total of 1/4 to 1/3 of the full capacity). The rig will be returned and I will get something else with a different valve that can control the flow more consistently.
Co2 cannot enter the sodastream cylinder because the valve to allow it to do so is defective. By not allowing the needle valve to close, it prevents obstruction of the cycle. if you fill the cylinder and unscrew it before sealing it, the cylinder cannot be sealed. The new charge is able to escape in the process. Two different soda cylinders were used to test it. There was even an additional sealing washer added to space the valve and the cylinder apart.
You have to open the valve very, very slowly so that your Soda Stream canister will fill. This method (in conjunction with a CO2 tank) will save you a lot of money on SS refills when you master it.
The fill valve on the sodastream bottle needs to be opened only a very small amount. If you open it any farther, the valve will lock shut.
It is possible to transfer liquid CO2 from a CO2 tank into sodastream canisters or similar canisters for use in sodastream machines with this product. ) and I strongly suggest you check if it has an Since the tank was without an internal siphon, I was forced to invert the tank in order to transfer liquid CO2. I think this is going to change everything!.
Even though I'm a highly trained specialist in doing mechanical work, I was stumped when it came to this problem. Turned it slowly, but I reached a point where I couldn't put CO2 in the bottle because the check value stopped working. There are several U Tubes about filling but none of them helped. With the CO2 tank connected directly to the soda stream maker, it was easy to purchase an adapter on Amazon. The bottle no longer needs to be replaced.
The refills are cheaper than ever thanks to this system.
