A GE microwave oven (over the range) - model JVM3160 The replacement door switches work perfectly and are exactly what I needed! I definitely recommend it (working for four months now Whenever there is a change, the site will be updated. Please read the disclaimer below! Do not try doing this yourself unless you are familiar with electrical repairs and have experience grounding electronic devices. If you do not know how to ground electrical devices, I do not recommend it! When you do something incorrectly, there is a risk of injury from SHOCK! I was happy to find that this door switch worked as expected. The microwave tripped the breaker switch approximately 5 times before the power to the microwave was completely lost. When I investigated what might be causing this, I learned that opening the door during a cooking cycle is more likely to cause a switch to fail than using the stop/clear button before we begin cooking. In my search for a replacement switch, I used There are two packs of switches. I searched over the range of JVM3160). The following is to be noted NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) are the two most common switches in microwaves. I bought one of each because I did not want to take apart the door to guess which one I needed. One switch worked for me, and I have one on hand in case the other one It's not a big deal what the cost difference between buying one or more is. The DIY people in our household made sure to turn off the power at the breaker box, as well as to ground the cables properly (in order to avoid a serious shock risk). It was easy and quick to change the switch, and the microwave works perfectly now!
As many people do, my family uses our microwave every single day, so not having it was super inconvenient. There was a possibility I would have purchased a new microwave for between $260 and $400 But our microwave was only three years old, so we had to spend over $500. The microwave I was going to get is still in the repair shop, so I got a **used countertop microwave from Facebook Marketplace instead. In this way, I was able to wait for the replacement parts to arrive and replace them in a convenient manner. In the end, it was a saving of hundreds of dollars, as well as the hassle and time involved in removing and replacing a new microwave. I've decided to use the **interim microwave in our theater room, which is serving multiple purposes.
I had to replace the door switch on my three year old frigidaire microwave. The microwave constantly shorted out and I determined that it was the We got on the search for a solution since my wife was ready to buy a new one and I was determined to see if the door switch could be the problem. My little microwave was fixed in no time and with the replacement of an inexpensive part I didn't have to buy a new one. There was no way anyone would have thought I could fix this, but it was so simple to make it work. Comes with a spare door switch as well.
The JVM3160DF3WW has been installed. Please note This combo package was also needed alongside another black switch with the prongs close together (normally open) for my door which had three switches. At one time, the microwave door switch inside my microwave went bad. I noticed one of the switches was burned after disassembling the unit and locating the switches. I attempted to replace the switches with some found on another site but both burned immediately (these burn-through switches are a problem A power surge was observed when the door was opened during microwave operation, so there may be other components damaged as well). There was actually one black one in addition to the two we bought in this pack. All 3 were replaced, and everything came back to life. This is a great alternative to major suppliers, where comparable switches with OEM items are marked up to $40, plus shipping, and they take weeks to arrive. Easy installation process takes about 20 minutes if you don't know what you're doing or have to fiddle Take pictures along the way so that you know how to put it back together again. Go slowly, so as not to break anything.
You won't get anything out of it. The 3 weeks were not enough. It has a button that gets stuck inside the machine, and if you plug it in, the microwave will run even if it is not on. My old switches were saved when I replaced all three switches three weeks ago. My first attempt was to remove the black switch but I found it had already been busted. In the meantime, I put the micro back on that I had removed and it is working flawlessly. When I first went in, I knew it was one of the gray switches that needed to be repaired. However, I decided to replace all three at the same time. Replace it if the one you have is grey. Don't bother.
The contact blades were wider, and a little thicker, than the original, so I ground them down by approximately Although it was tight, I was able to attach the connector. As a result, the problem was resolved. There was no doubt that the old switch had been Nothing under the button to hold it in place.
I had no problems with the part. It is tripping the circuit breaker every time I use my GE microwave. About 5 years old, it has a lot of potential. In large part, because it is such a pain to install a new microwave, I did not want to replace it. My next step was to check youtube to see if there was a fix, and I found a bunch of videos stating that most people have issues with the main door switch. As a result, I said, what the hell, lets try it. I had to change it and I found out that one of them was It was easy to change it after I ordered I am so glad it is working so well! In the case that it no longer works, I'll update again later, but so far this was a great purchase.
This is junk mail. In the event that I were able to give a "NO" star review I would have done so, but it made me pick a When I received the parts and tested the part with an ohm meter, I found that it was the switch on the right that is normally closed and as soon as I started the microwave it crapped out. A breaker tripped when I opened the door, and I checked it with the meter to find it was stuck closed. I don't think it's worth my time or effort to print out a return form and mail it back because this product is only good for one microwave cycle, rubbish. I am sure many others have also done this. At least it allows the company to make money this way!.
I ordered both the normally open and normally closed switches - No luck. Unlike the normally closed one, the normally open one worked just fine. The one at the other end of the spectrum did not I'm not sure why one would work but the other wouldn't (it looked almost identical to the old switch).
