Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with the Vitamix 5000 model?

In 2005, I bought a part similar to this, and it fit my 5000 perfectly. After 14 years of heavy use and five children, it cracked, and I had to have a new one made. One of our favorite products is the high-powered blender.

What mechanism does the kit use to keep it in place? Is there a new screw included with it?

An allen wrench, a drive socket, and a set screw are all included in the kit. Basically everything you could possibly want. Just one word of caution: the screw is angled upward like the original, so start with the screw first and tighten only a half turn or two at a time.

What number of people does this part fit for?

It is impossible to use an adapter if one isn't available. I have both the 400 and the part, but I can't put them together.

DON'T BUY THIS AS OF 11/1/16! NOT AN ORIGINAL VITAMIX PART! You can read my initial review (3 stars) to see what issues I had with this unlicensed look-alike drive socket
3/5

You can either look at the pictures labeled "Update" to see the differences between my original socket and this one, as I did, or you can just look at the pictures labeled "Update" to see the differences between my original socket and this one. It's not the same at all. Although they appear to be very similar, the minor differences were the deciding factor! After months of tinkering with the new socket in my 5200 series machine, including uninstalling and reinstalling it, searching online forums, and so on, I finally decided to try putting my original back on (which wasn't really broken to begin with - see below). I'm glad I saved it. ) to see if it resolved the terrible imbalance/noise issues I was experiencing. In a nutshell, yes. My blender has returned to its previous state of perfection. It sounded like a bulldozer and shimmy all over the counter at high speeds when using this socket. TERRIBLE! Anyway, for specs and details, check out the rest of the original review and my photos, but if you value your Vitamix, DON'T BUY THIS. Call the company and ask where you can get the genuine article, which should bear the Vitamix logo and part number (again, see photos). I believe the website is called partstown. This drive socket is in stock at com, which sells only genuine OEM parts. Best of luck! br>br>We have a vitamix 5200 (specs in photos) that needed a new blade and I figured I'd upgrade all the parts while I was at it, so I went ahead and bought this new drive socket as well, even though our old one wasn't completely worn out or anything. I figured why not do it all at once and give the machine a new lease on life, but in retrospect, I believe that was a mistake because the blender hasn't worked well since I replaced the drive socket. It works, but it's a little too loud and off-kilter. Unless you firmly press down on the lid with your hand while blending, the entire unit will move across the counter top. I'm completely furious! The instructions made removing the old one and installing the new one simple enough, but now I'm not sure how to fix this problem, and nothing I've found on the vitamix website seems to help. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but it's still not working. I've tried tightening the bolt that holds it in place several times with no change, and I've tried different levels of tightness on the bolt that holds it in place with no change. I'm at a loss for what to do. If anyone has any advice for me, I'd appreciate it, but until I can figure out why this is suddenly happening, my best advice to you all is to DON'T REPLACE YOUR DRIVE SOCKET UNLESS YOU REALLY NEED TO! I gave it three stars because the part appears to be well-made and arrived in good condition.

It's time to give your Vitamix 5200 a new lease on life
5/5

My CIA Vitamix/5200 was producing a lot more NOISE and appeared to be losing power! I called Vitamix, but the woman on the other end of the line was only interested in selling me a new beaker. That worked, but the machine was still noisy and didn't appear to be running properly. When I decided to watch some YOUTUBE movies, I discovered that the socket needed to be replaced. It was QUICK and EASY, and my Vitamix now looks brand new! It's a little difficult to get the socket tool in, but persevere. In addition, I discovered that the gasket is simple to remove and clean beneath it. You'll definitely want one of these in your toolbox for that JUST-IN-CASE situation. CASE- STATE OF THE ART!.

VITAMIX PARTS ARE NOT OFFICIAL VITAMIX PARTS
3/5

THIS IS NOT A VITAMIX PRODUCT. Vitamix doesn't sell it, and the seller doesn't accept returns. I received a drive kit that was of sub-par quality. With a hex screw that was so small that it was nearly impossible to find in the Vitamix's small hole, the quality was subpar. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS TOO SMALL FOR MY BLENDER CONTAINER ONCE I PUT IT ON.

I thought my vitamix was toast, and I was sure I'd ruined my vitamin 750
5/5

When I went to use it, I didn't realize there was a spoon in there, though it was a little louder than usual. I discovered the mangled spoon and the socket had broken from the base when it came to a halt at the end of the cycle. I ordered this part and watched a video that showed me how to remove the pad, align the socket, and tighten it (using the wrench that came with it). I was apprehensive about doing it, but it turned out to be a very simple fix. I ran it through its paces for short and long periods of time to ensure everything was in working order, and it was. I'm happy I purchased this kit.

With the exception of the Vitamix XL, all Vitamix models are compatible
5/5

This part is designed to work with the Vita-Mount Vita-Mount Vita- Model VM0103 (see photo) of the Mix® Total Nutrition Center® Whole Food MachineTM one of the first, if not the first, home versions of an industrial model on the market at the time (1995). Rather than using planned obsolescence to get customers to throw away their old machines and spend a lot of money on brand new ones, Vitamix has built machines that last, as well as newer models with parts that are compatible with older models (e. g. , the Vitamix drive socket). , as well as drive sockets). br>br>The drive socket kit was labeled Item 000891 on the packaging (see photo). It's referred to as Part 000891 on the Vitamix website, and it fits all Vitamix models except the Vitamix XL, which uses Part 015902. Some suppliers, dealers, and retailers may list/advertise the drive socket as Part 891 without the three leading 0s. br>br>Removing the drive socket from an older Vitamix machine, such as the Model VM0103, requires removing two opposing rubber foot pads from the machine's base instead of the large single rubber centering pad on newer models in order to properly leverage two flathead screwdrivers, but the principle remains the same. (Search the Internet for "vitamix drive socket repair" to see video demonstrations of the large single rubber centering pad being removed from a newer model. ) )br>br>A photo of an original drive socket for an old Vita-type machine is attached. Model VM0103® is a blend of worn-out and new materials. A brand new drive socket with a metal lined shaft is located to the left of the out shaft. What are the signs that your drive socket needs to be replaced? It's probably time to replace the drive socket if it's wobbly and spins without a container set on it, and/or the blade of the container won't turn unless there's something substantial (food and/or liquid) in the container. Before installing the new drive socket, read the instructions that came with the drive socket kit carefully. As of the date of this review, a copy of the instructions (in PDF format) that came with the drive socket kits was available on the Internet. br>br>Unscrewing the setscrew is required to remove the drive socket. On a Model VM0103, the setscrew is inserted through a tiny hole in the housing (round wall on top of unit). The hole in the side of the housing, rather than the back, may be found on newer Vitamix machines. br>br>Hint: if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innov After removing the drive socket and unscrewing the setscrew, screw in the new drive socket until the inside end is flush with the inside of the housing; After you've installed and properly seated the new drive socket, you won't have to turn the setscrew nearly as much. br>br>Be especially careful not to overtighten the setscrew by turning it only to the point where it hits the drive shaft or stops moving. Please don't make it difficult for yourself! and then unscrewing the setscrew 1/4 turn, inserting a container, and testing the machine. br>br>Replacing the drive socket yourself takes no more thought, effort, or time than driving a car to a gas station and refueling it at a self-service station. pump for serving More effort, if anything.
