Although I really wanted to like this product to transport my fresh artisan sourdough bread, the plastic produced a chemical smell that has not yet gone away after over a year of sitting around unused! It appears that there is no smell from either part for a short period after the cover and base have been completely separated. However, when the two have been together for some time and subsequently parted, the smell is still present. Between the base and the cover, which are two different types of plastic, it almost seems like a chemical reaction. Although I know it's way too late to request a refund, for a product intended to be used with food, the company should have noticed this before making the product available for purchase.

A single layer sponge looked tiny inside this large container after I baked it in a 9" pan. Unfortunately, there are several poor design decisions that are making me wished I had spent a bit more on another provider. As an added disadvantage, it's exactly where you put your knuckles when holding your cake, making it uncomfortable at the very least. Additionally, the clasps secure the top on but appear to be cheap and vulnerable to breaking if a heavy cake is placed on top. When you're a messy baker like me, you're going to have a hard time getting all that dirty baking powder out of your This carrier would not be a good fit for me. It's made of a strong plastic and has a sturdy handle and a large cake area plus a handle. A perfect-sized container for keeping cakes on the kitchen table or storing food on a picnic to keep flies at bay. My first cake I stored in this cake holder has just been thrown away. Prior to using the container, it had been thoroughly cleaned. A strong chemical smell was evident when I opened my cake container the next morning. The cake had been combined with it and the cake was ruined. In the absence of a means to eliminate the chemical gas that builds up when the product is closed, I cannot recommend it. This is not the kind of experience I had expected from STERILITE.
