Selected User Reviews For OXO Good Grips Black Nylon Flexible Pie Server
This Oxo pie server caught my eye on Amazon when I was looking for a flexible pie server for my chicken pot pies. Despite wanting silicone, I could not find a pie serving set containing a silicone pie server (just part of a set of utensils), so I went for the I was disappointed in the end. However, I did not experience any greater results with this flexible spatula compared to There was a lot of pot pie going around. My concern is that this server is too flexible (as in kind of flimsy) for the stuff I need. Although it may work fine for some foods, my pot pie did not turn out well.
It is horrible when I cut my first piece of cherry pie and it turns into cobbler as soon as it reaches the plate. There is nothing worse than seeing the disappointed look on the recipient's face when that person finds that they now have a plate of sweet mush for dessert. I have used several commercial and homemade pie cutters/servers but I have never discovered how to avoid destroying the first slice. Unlike many pie servers, the OXO Pie Server is flexible enough to slide almost vertically behind the pie crust, bending to avoid smashing up the crust as it goes underneath the slice. It is wide and firm enough that the slice does not slide off the server as it is transferred. In a hot pan, the edges of a nylon spatula melt and crinkle, so I never place the server in a pan. Apart from that, it is also a good, sturdy product at a fair price. So far, I would recommend it highly. I have posted my latest experience in my Profile, so if my later experience differs, please click the name over my review and see my latest review. Even though servers have serrated edges, I still use a dinner knife to slice my pie. It gives me enough control over my slice to perform the task without causing damage to This review should have been helpful to you, I hope. Eat a pie and enjoy it!.
If you want to make sure that your pans do not get scratched up, this is the product you need. As hard as it is, it isn't as strong as metal, so if you want to slice through a cookie crust pie, you will have to work a little harder.
This is the form of a pie that is ideally suited for pulling a slice. This is the second OXO Good Grips I have purchased and was pleased with them. It's not for cutting bread it's only for cutting pies You will need a real knife for that, so be sure to always have one on hand. While flexing nicely to get under the crust and lift it out, it does not break.
Several ribbed edges give it a sturdy feel, and it's great for cutting pies and cakes. There were no folds or bends when I was cutting the material. A real cake knife is better for cutting a dense cake, such as a Bundt cake or any other dense cake, but for regular cakes and pies, this is terrific.
I like how it feels when I hold it too. There is a lot of flexibility at the blade end & This is an easy thing My ceramic coated pans do not scratch from this product. I think it's best used for desserts like flat cakes, pies, brownies, or any other baked good I can think of A bar. Desserts that are larger or taller may not be supported by the blade if it is not strong enough or large enough.
I use it for pie slices under the pie crust and it is strong enough to replace a knife so my non-smoking husband can use it. You can use pie plates that are stick shaped. Puts everything in the dishwasher to clean up.
Its serrated edges add a nice touch, and they will work on softer crusts, but thin pastry crusts and tarts will have trouble using them. Among the best features of this OXO utensil are its Good Grips handle and, especially, the flexible material, which makes it easy for the blade to reach underneath without damaging the bakeware. With its low price and the fact that it won't scratch your metal pans, you've got yourself a nice baking tool of your own.
