The knife piqued my interest, so I purchased the set. br>Because the glove won't protect you from much of a slip, I switched back to my dish towel. Oysters can't be opened with this knife. The point and straightness of the tip are both excessive. The point makes it particularly dangerous in a slip, and an oyster knife relies on the turned-up tip to pry the shell open once inside. Oysters must be freed from their shells before being eaten, and scooping into the cupped shell with a straight blade is difficult.
I shucked 50 EROS oysters in no time thanks to how easy it was to use and how comfortable it felt in my hand. The gloves were the only reason for four stars. They were nothing more than a farce. They provided a false sense of security by doing nothing to assist in keeping hands clean and safe. Sell the knife on its own; it's worth the money even if you don't include the gloves. A thick oyster towel would make an excellent second item.
