I'm not sure how thick it is, but this is the knife I use to cut everything from potatoes to boxes open. This knife has a special place in my heart.

I've been using rada knives since I was a small child cooking with my grandmother. They're great for pairing and sharpening. I'll never peel vegetables or fruits with another pairing knife. I no longer use steak knives because I use the same knife to cut up any cooked meat. br>br>The silver handle knives are great, but because they are made of aluminum, they cannot be soaked in water or put in the dishwasher, whereas the black handles are made of a hard plastic that can. Although the silver handles have a more substantial weight, the black handles are ideal for cleaning. I have a lot of knives and they're all great! Knives range in size from large to small. I sharpen them when I get them and once a year after that, and they're still in good shape. My grammy gave me a silver one when I was about 20 years old, and I still have it.
I started looking for a set for my own kitchen several years ago, purchased one, and recently added a couple of paring knives to my collection. They maintain their sharpness (and are simple to sharpen if they become dull). The handles will fade over time, but the blade will remain in good condition. This is an aesthetic issue, not a problem with the knives' quality or cutting ability. They're easy to use and can be washed in the dishwasher (though I prefer to wash mine by hand). These are my all-time favorite paring knives!.
Since I can remember, these knives have been a part of my family's kitchen. My earliest recollection is of the family farm in the early 1960s, and I've always had one in my kitchen. They're simple to sharpen to a razor edge (I prefer the old-fashioned wet stone method, but a good knife sharpener will produce similar results), and they keep their edge and last for years if properly cared for. After each use, I always clean and dry each knife. I don't wash them with the rest of the dishes because they're so sharp, and it helps them look brand new. Rada has also expanded their product line, which I think is fantastic, especially the tomato knife. It's rare to come across a knife that will cut a slice to your liking like this one. I simply wanted to show my appreciation for these knives.
We've had two for well over a decade, and I've just ordered a third; they're workhorses that hold an edge for a long time and are simple to sharpen. Get the plastic-wrapped ones if you want to put them in the dishwasher. those who have been dealt with The aluminum handles are attractive at first glance, but they will quickly discolor in the dishwasher. The first one we got, with the plastic handle, has probably been washed hundreds of times and still looks good.
I needed to replace one that I had for years and was overjoyed to find this one. I recently placed an order for a second one to keep in our vacation home. Everything fits perfectly in it! Working/chopping with large, heavy knives with large blades is not something I enjoy doing. This is a fantastic choice. Size and weight are ideal. It's fantastic!.
My mother has used Rada knives for decades and will not use anything else. She misplaced her little paring knife after a recent holiday season with a lot of visiting family members; my mother is 85 and blind, so she needs to know her world and everything in it. I couldn't just hand her a new knife and expect her to know how to use it. So, of course, I placed another Rada order for her. Certainly, there are better knives on the market, but I wouldn't expect to find anything better at this price point. Sharpening is simple with these knives, and they continue to perform admirably. Rada knives were given to all of my family members as gifts, and we use them all. We may have other, higher-quality, more expensive knives, but we always seem to keep our Rada knives close by and use them on a regular basis.
I recently misplaced my favorite paring/utility knife, which was identical to the one I just bought but had a silver handle. I've had that knife for 25 years and it's been a kitchen workhorse for me. It was sharp right out of the sheath, had a nice feel in the hand (just like my old one), and did the job. Plus. It's designed and manufactured in the United States of America! It's a great paring knife, and I'm thinking about getting another as a backup.
I only used it for about ten seconds before cutting the tip of my thumb off. I'm not making this up. Everyone said I should get stitches, but I just wrapped it up and let it heal for a month. This knife makes me a little nervous, but I also adore it. Now I'm taking it easy and cutting slowly. Like butter, it rips through a jalapeno.
