How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

The magnetic properties of honing steels (sometimes called sharpening steels) help your knife's edge be realigned for a sharper cut however, they can turn tiny metal particles from your blade into airborne particles. Magnets are used on our honing rods to prevent the particles from land on nearby food or being inhaled.
A HONER THAT LASTS YEARS OF USE. Our honing steels are made of hardened carbon steel that lasts for years. During the development of our honing rods, every material was carefully selected. We do not use cheap plastic handles or steel that is soft and inexpensive.
The chromium plating process we use on our honing steels prevents corrosion and rust once they have been hardened.
HONING STEELS PRESERVE MORE METAL ON YOUR KNIFE EDGE Honing steels are designed to be used often, but without taking off too much of the metal on your knife's edge. As opposed to knife sharpening steels or wet stone sharpeners, which shouldn't be used too often. (See product description for more details.
It is recommended that you wipe the honing steel down with a wet cloth after use to remove metal particles. HONING STEELS ARE DISHWASHER SAFE You don't have to wash honing steels after each use. You can use our honing rod in the dishwasher to clean it perfectly!

Questions & Answers

Who made it? What country made it?

On the product there is no information about the origins of the product. I do not have the original box. I really like this

Can you tell me on the Rockwell scale how hard this steel is?

It is hardchrome plated with a surface hardness of HV940 and then hardchrome plated with a 5 hardness. I obtained this information from the seller (here is the information he provided)

How should you maintain your sharpening steel? Do you need to apply oil?

At the age of 20, I worked in the kitchen. No one used oil that I saw. Since I have used this one on my knife for more than forty years, I have never used any oil on it.

Are you supposed to oil your steel before sharpening it?

Nobody has ever told me or shown me how to oil a steel before. As a matter of fact, the steel filings would "clog up" the serrations of the steel if it were oiled. In reality, a steel should only be used to polish a blade rather than to sharpen it. If you magnify a good knife, you’ll see a fine edge in the form of a wire. Once the edge has been used a bit, it will roll a bit. Steel simply "unrolls" and straightens the edge again so that it is parallel to the surface being cut. It's a good idea to rinse your steel with dish soap and water after using it, and then dry it thoroughly.

I'm using this, and the others are just a waste of money
5/5

The turkey I carved for Thanksgiving was given to me by my brother. This was the offer our host made to her sister I used the law's knife, which had just been sharpened professionally, to carve the roast. Despite our best efforts, things didn't go as planned. When I saw the honing steel in the kitchen, I thought, "I wonder if I can still cut the turkey with that". Not at all! There was a problem with the steel, because the hardness wasn't good enough for gripping a dull blade's edge. Here, let's take a look at the host's knife. Despite the fact that it was practically the same as her sister's The knife is a law's knife, (what a shock). She could get by with a decent honing steel if she just had one. After that, back at the ranch, I told myself, "I'll order the steel I use, and give it to them when we go to the ranch in December. "
I ordered the steel from Chicago - it wasn't delivered until December 13th. My first impression was that it was different from the steel I use and looked like most of the cheap stuff out there, so I had to check it out. It's a surprise. I had no idea that this was such a piece of crap. Sending it back was the correct move. I started my search again, but this time I looked for reviews from customers who have been happy. There seemed to be no better candidate than Noble. It worked for people, and they were saying, "Oh yeah, this works!" ", and "I like the way it feels in my hand and looks high quality". In the weeks leading up to Christmas, I ordered one, and it arrived fairly quickly. After opening the package, I took out a sharp knife and ran it over the steel. I see what you mean! The cleaning was done quickly so I didn't feel the need to wrap it up, it was going to be used Fortunately, I had my stuff together this time. In using the Noble honing steel, (it does sharpen a bit, since it removes a small amount of There's no need to worry about it though, since it's magnetized, so it catches anything coming off its It is another great design from Noble). My ham of Christmas was quite dull, so I worked with this blade for a few minutes to get its edge back, but once it had been done, the blade was very sharp and did a great job cutting the meat. In addition to the two I ordered, I will order two more of these steels for each of the existing cabinets The law. I found this product to be excellent in both price and quality.

It sharpens very well and is very easy to use
5/5

Honing Steel Rods are not my first choice. I have used them a few times before and was not impressed with them. The edge of a knife set in my possession does not hold a sharp edge. The Honing Steel Rod from Noble Home & Garden is a high quality product. I find Chef to be much more efficient than any previous program I've used. The rod can be passed down the rod less times as a result of the rod sharpening itself. Weighing in at three pounds and having a wonderful balance, I love it. I feel the handle of this tool is of more quality than those I have used in the past. It doesn't matter what it looks like, it's all about how it works, and this Honing Steel Rod is the best in both worlds. It has not been long since I acquired it, which is why I gave it four stars on Durability.

This is a fantastic and worthy addition to your kitchen
4/5

From my first impressions, this honing steel appears to be very good quality. This is a very nicely crafted product and you can tell the quality is evident both in appearance and in No cheap plastic here, this is a product that is well designed to look great wherever it is displayed, be it on the counter, in a block or mounted on a magnetic stand. During training, you should hone your skills & skills Although I keep my regular knives sharpened, I found an older, now less frequently used blade that had been battered up during drawer storage and found it to be in decent shape. All it required were a few strops and this steel would be ready for service once Currently, I have not had it long enough to fully evaluate its intended function and longevity. I am giving it 4 stars due to the fact that I have not fully tested it yet. Those items with 5 stars are the ones that are excellent from the start, but only further impress as they are used.

I have used several honing steels and this one from Noble Home & Chef is definitely the best
5/5

Knives are very important to me, so I needed a honing rod that was similarly fine. steel from Noble Home & Garden is excellent for honing There is no doubt that Chef is one of the best rods I have ever A superior design is used on the handle that does not make use of plastic like most knife handles. Because of the weight and construction, I can tell that it is durable and will last me a long time. I highly recommend this honing rod to both chefs and home cooks alike.

The honing steel is very well made
5/5

It was important to me to keep the edge on two knives I recently purchased, but I did not want to spend an arm and a leg It is still bothering my wife that I'm not forgiven for that! It is a little gem I stumbled upon. In spite of how low the price tag is, I was surprised by how well it's made. It is made of carbon steel, is quite heavy, and has a nice handle that isn't rubbery at all. They send an email about a day or two before the item arrives with instructions on how to use it. For instance, the steel should be two inches longer than the knife to be used. I may have to get the 12 inch as well since I currently have the 10 inch. I have used it on other knives I have and it has worked well. The black box it arrived in is well packaged. The price was well worth it.

Generally good quality knife steel at a fair price
5/5

The knife steel appears to be of good quality, and the overall length of the knife makes it easier to handle. For sharpening the knives in our kitchens, I normally use an electric knife sharpener When I need to maintain an edge of a knife between sharpenings and for less aggressive knife cutting, I use a knife steel. My knife steel arrived in a nice package, and it looks great. The knife steel and handle are extremely beautiful, and it appeared to cost more than the actual price. It will take time to see how long the steel will last, but so far it works well. The steel has been used so far to sharpen five knives, and they have all turned out *On the basis of my experiences so far with the steel, I am confident that it is of good quality and that it represents a good value for the price. The following are the latest June 25, 2018 updates Despite its age, this knife steel still works In order to keep my knives sharp, I am now utilizing the knife steel right before I use each one. This practice has particularly helped me with my bowie knives. The knife sharpening stones seem to be less destructive to the knives than my previous use of electric knife sharpeners. While I plan to use the electric sharpener from time to time, if I use the knife steel consistently, I will be able to rely less on the sharpener in the future.

This is amazing! Crock sticks are what I have used the most times
5/5

This is amazing! He always uses his steel to cut meat as smoothly as butter, when I visited my local butcher. The only time I have used it is so far to On my pocket knife that I use to open mail, I've tried it and it slides right through with ease,.
