The knife is great! I like it for herbs and foods that have a tendency to climb up the blade when I cut them. I can utilize more of the blade before I have to push foods off of the cutting edge because the edge is flat. You can think of green onions as an A thin, strong, lightweight blade with a VERY sharp edge.
It is a true pleasure to use this ZWILLING Nakiri. There is a lot of sharpness on the blade. There is comfort in the handle. My jaw dropped!
I was amazed! In order to cook vegetables properly, a Nakiri is the better option.
What I like about it is Cooking is my profession, and I have held knives that I considered awkward and difficult to use. With this knife, you will find it easy and comfortable to handle.
Several factors will affect the technique of honing knives daily, weekly or monthly. The choice of alloy will affect the frequency of honing. A good light setting will allow you to do the honing in approximately 60 seconds. Knives made from Japanese style steel are sharper for a longer period of time, but they are almost impossible to hone. Thus, in two months you will no longer be able to sharpen at home a dull knife! In addition, the blade of the knife isn't as wide as a typical Japanese Nakiri knife (which are almost as wide as a traditional Chinese veggie cleaver). Possibly this knife is good for those who work with small vegetables and have small hands.
These types of knives appeal to us in many ways. The Nakiri knife, as far as I can tell, is notorious in Japan. We've merged the most desirable features of a cleaver and a santoku into a lightweight and delightfully maneuverable kitchen knife. The blade is exceptionally sharp, and the handle is extremely comfortable to hold, like all the other products in the Four Star line. The knife chops well and then allows you to pick up what you'd chopped and transfer it to a dish or Suitable for slicing and other tasks as well. There's nothing else to say about it Several weeks ago, we began using it in our daily cooking. Now it is the first knife we reach for when we cook. Probably need to order another one instead, to prevent squabbles on who will get to use it.
