Selected User Reviews For Shun Premier Nakiri Knife, 5.5 Inch Tsuchime Finished Blade, Wood Handle, TDM0742, Walnut

Up until I owned this knife, I never thought I had a need for a dedicated vegetable knife
5/5

Previously, I owned a Shun Premier 7" Santoku knife and a 4" pairing knife. However, it seemed some sellers were clearing out their Shun Premier stocks, so I added more of these knives. In regards to this specific knife, I spent quite a bit of time considering whether I should buy it. I am a serious carnivore so I was a little hesitant about acquiring a dedicated vegetable knife, especially considering that my Santoku has a nearly flat edge. A very good price came up so I decided to go for it, and I am happy that Because it cuts vegetables with one slice, rather than having to pull forward a lot at the end to get a ridge to cut without leaving a strand, this thing is totally worth it The blade needs to be flat to pass Shun makes beautifully crafted knives that are extremely sharp and look The knives that I own are not the best that money can buy, but they do the job Regardless of how well I think my knives are holding up, I have them professionally sharpened once a year. It is possible to use this knife to cut tomatoes one handed when it is.

Although I love it, it does get dull easily
4/5

It is not nearly as sharp as my other Shun. It is a great knife and I can cut even better with it than with my other Shun, but, as another reviewer also pointed out, I found the knife's edge not as sharp out of the box as I anticipated, and not to the same standard as my other Shun. It has been 3 years since I bought it and it seems to need some sharpening now. I docked a star to inform the public about this. It and the Shun chef were both better cut, although this knife was also notably dull, and the blade was not nearly as sharp. The Shun knife I have has trouble going through tomato skins, and is not sharp enough to perform the task as well as the other Shun knife does otherwise. It is strange that this Shun knife cuts better than the other Shun, yet seems to dull more easily. A person must hone the tool after one use because it becomes dull after awhile.

The cutting edge
5/5

The perfect solution to my problems. As I've mentioned, this Shun Nakiri Damascus layered Knife was not by any means cheap, but because I don't have my own teeth, I needed something sharp to chop my vegetables and chewy foods. The knife is just right for the job. My daughter's place in SC used it and I had to have one after watching it chop leafy lettuce all by itself without sending things flying off the cutting board. I never owned a knife that could do this without things flying off without sending stuff flying off. On a cutting board, with a cleaver action, this knife will finely chop the likes of spinach, kale and romaine greens with no flying pieces. I think it is a great safety feature that you don't have to hold on to the leafy stuff that you are chopping. The handle appears to be too small, according to someone I heard. There is no need to man handle this knife. It is sharp enough to perform most jobs without a heavy hand. Below is a demonstrative of it being used to slice leftover prime rib by only the weight of the knife, which comes in at just It is a Premier Sumo Santoku TDM0743S knife and comes with a stand. It is located prominently on my kitchen bar and it is almost as sharp as my Nakiri Shun, but it is heavier to utilize the weight of the knife If I shave the pork loin thin enough, I can make it as tender as a marshmallow for sandwiches (with kraut, It's hard to choose between these two. You just need to make sure you have a flat surface to cut on. If the knife goes dull or chips, it might be because the user is using the counter top as a cutting board. Try using a simple plastic mat or an actual maple board instead.

It is always a pleasure to work with Shun
5/5

My favorite knife is the Shun. I have never been disappointed with it. Straight out of the box, this is nice and sharp. My cooking is a lot and this beats the rest and is really comfortable and well For everyday chopping, this is the perfect size. Vegetables are mostly present in the diet. In order to make it as easy for you as possible to return the product, I recommend keeping the box that the knife comes in in case you need to return it to the company. Customers are served well by the company's customer service team, and warranties are excellent.

It seems to be well made in general
5/5

From the blade to the handle, this knife is visually stunning. It feels well balanced in your hand, and at first I thought that the knife wasn't as sharp as my miyabi knife, but then I thought that I was foolish. Despite being so comfortable, it is a great knife. Cutting, dicing, and slicing is a breeze with it. The handle is both functional and beautiful. It has a good weight to it. You'll love it if you give it a try.

I want to be bold and beautiful
5/5

Even though we have a set of Shun knives, this one is a far superior product. It is not only very sharp and easy to use, but it is also incredibly beautiful to look at. Honestly, it is a true work of art. This knife has revived a joy for cooking in me that I had not experienced in a long time. I bought it for vegetables, but can tell it is intended for cutting everything like butter (including meat). In spite of finding a reason or two to use it every day, this knife has stayed sharper longer than other knives. This line of knives is something we intend to purchase in the near The knife can also make a fantastic gift for anyone who values the value of a quality.
