Questions & Answers

What is the country of origin of this kettle?

This is stainless steel that has been polished. The product is made There is no English translation in either the instructions or the package. Nevertheless, how it works is relatively intuitive lift lid, add water, close lid, tilt down whistle, put on stove, use gas fire preferably to heat water (not sure how well it would work on electric), turn off fire when whistle sounds, tilt up whistle, pour hot water out.

With your thumb while holding on to the handle, can you open the spout easily with one hand (pour/open ?

The answer is yes. As a result, it seems designed for this purpose. There is a bit of sliding you need to do on the handle. In fact you don't need to hold the spout open at all, just flip it and you're done. As long as you don't press the button it will stay.

What are the best methods of cleaning it from the inside out? A whistling cap is made of what material?

This is a plastic whistling cap surrounded by stainless steel. It is the same hard plastic as the handle and When it whistles, the steam comes through an opening on the top of the whistling cap that comes into contact with the spout. The stainless steel piece that makes contact with the spout is insulated and made with stainless steel. In terms of cleaning the insides, I have not yet done it. Due to the small opening, hands probably won't be able to get into it. Apparently, some form of vinegar solution will need to be used, though I am not certain whether it will work. Periodically cleaning it out may be a good idea if you get it. I only see one potential problem there if you're asking about cleaning the whistle. It might get lodged inside the whistle cavity if your cleaning solution gets inside it. I really don't see why it would be a problem.

The only way I can give it six stars is to give it six stars
5/5

The kettle I own has now been in my possession for almost 4 years, so I feel it has a fairly good reputation. I've gone through several kettles before buying the one I'm using now, and it's been my best purchase on Amazon so far. When I bought this item, it was just as a stopgap in response to Oxo sending me a replacement kettle for one that broke just months after I bought it. As a replacement for my Oxo kettle, it has remained my primary kettle and has remained in its box rather than being simply a stopgap. This is not in use. My initial reasons for buying this kettle were because it was made in Japan, not made in China, as the majority of other kettles on the market are. Finding one that was not manufactured in China has proven to be surprisingly difficult. As a bonus, it has a high degree of quality. The whistle is large and clear, and is much better than those of the Oxo it replaced (and Chantel and Le Creuset before that). There is only one issue with this set it feels a little thin at times but that has not been a factor in its quality, as it has lasted through nearly four years of boiling water and two full kettles or more each day.

I am glad to be surprised
5/5

Using plastic and Teflon tools for cooking has become a thing of the past for our family. The other day, I was also searching for a kettle made in the United States that would not be made in China. In the manufacture of metal goods, the company is not known for having good materials. There are hardly any other options at this price. Here we have a stainless steel screw that is of very high quality. Yes, it is light weight. A high level of craftsmanship can be found here. This style of faucet only requires a little bit of care and is not fragile. Don't overload it with heavy pots in the sink, and you'll be fine. The rotatable handle works as it should, no issues whatsoever, and stays in place as you pour. Heat makes the handle hot, so you need to wear gloves. The instructions state that the product is in Japanese (based on the pictures, I gather it is Pours without dripping, reaches a reasonable temperature, whistles loud enough and heats quickly. (Yet) the bottom of the frypan hasn't been discolored by the flame under it. I like how it looks, how it works, and how it shines. Adding to the kitchen is a nice addition.

A large gas burner is mounted on a wide base to capture heat
5/5

There was a Japanese market package for this. In this case, there were no English speakers. This is the first time I've ever seen Japanese on a kettle (which, I assume, says "maximum fill point"). Kettles do not really need instructions since they are designed to work alone. However, it is an unusual occurrence. There is nothing but stainless steel in this. A thin, light heating element is used (no heat spreader at all). Since the base of the kettle is large enough so that I can run a large gas burner on high, the majority of the heat goes to it and most of it gets transferred to the bottom. In other words, the flames do not lick around the bottom of the thing and travel Furthermore, there are no drips or dribbles in the pour. I can see how some people may want their units to have a more substantial feel. However, in spite of the thin walls of stainless steel, the mug appears to be well made, and the light weight is acceptable to me. I have to admit that my wife does not like the tone of the whistle when compared to her The not being able to do something is not a problem to A few years ago, my old kettle had a layer of enamel coating that started to peel after a while. This is why we upgraded to a new model. It should last for quite a while since the stainless is so durable.

For Induction, I really enjoyed it
3/5

That is, until A year and a half have passed since we first received this pot. We have been using it on an induction cooktop and it works great I had no issues with corrosion or leaks using the power boost setting. When I used the power boost setting, the water boiled very fast. Not so long ago. There are now heat stress spots on the inside, which have made their way through the bottom to create pinhole leaks. A sad day has passed for us- The pot was great and we enjoyed it.

Zen in every sense
5/5

I had initially bought a Simplex tea kettle made in England two weeks prior after a search that lasted for two weeks looking for one made anywhere but in China. I was willing to pay a ridiculous price for it (over $150) in order to find one made elsewhere than in China. As soon as it arrived, the English overpriced one was covered in black gunk and rusted. The seller received it in the box and returned it to him. It gradually became clear to me that Japan was not China and they did not have the same reputation for using cheap and dangerous materials, so I decided to give What a great idea! I really like the way this lamp looks on the stove, it heats up quickly, has an attractive whistle, and a lock. Let the water run out the I was very pleased to find such a good deal on this Zen teapot.

The handle design of the teapot is not particularly appealing
3/5

The handle design of the teapot is not particularly appealing. Since I was not interested in buying a product made in China, this was my choice. My left thumb was burned when I first made a kettle of tea and went to pour. The pot collapsed onto my hand as I was pouring. In addition to moving down too easily, the rivets on the handle weren't tight enough to keep it from collapsing. It would be nice if there was a way to lock it or if it was I did not want to risk additional injuries to myself or my family members making tea, no matter how charming the tea pot and simple design was. I am satisfied with the quality of the pot because it is simple and straightforward. Those with thin metal tastes might find it a bit thin, however I found it Since it is an economy tea pot from Japan, the lower price is because of the design flaw with the collapsing handle. I would purchase it again if the design flaw could be fixed.

I really like the way it looks and how easy it is to carry (and use)
5/5

The KETTLE is everything I'm looking for! This stainless steel, lightweight, and inexpensive holder is great to look at. I was skeptical at first - it's so lightweight that I took out the lid with the same ease as I pulled the lid off of a child's play kettle - but of course, it works great. There was almost a tin-like feeling to it. After I used it, and used it with FULL water, it was such a pleasure to pour, since its weight means it is easy to handle a pot full of water. . . . and the other thing I love about it is that . . . I was looking for - but couldn't find it One of the features of this handle is its ability to collapse. For me, it is more convenient to fill the kettle with water through the opening at the top, instead of using the spout. When I measure bottled water, I use a large Pyrex container, so I can pour it through the top more easily than It does not get hot if you fold the handle down (as I did accidentally) and while it is at full boil! As long as you are able to grab it, you can. As a result, I seem to be suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and I love the way my hands feel with the lightness of it after a day on the computer. Thank you! I'm really glad to have.
