I wouldn't take it on its own.
I would suggest watching for the first time because the unit heats evenly, which most of our stoves don't do, so you can see when the cooking is complete. You should then memorize that time so you can get warm water whenever you need it.
As long as the outside is kept clean and the porcelain outside is kept red, it should remain red. I appreciate it!

In reviews, I read that it had been rusted inside. I damaged my previous Kitchenaid tea kettle - 15 years old - when it boiled dry - I never tried it again. In the past it had always sat on top of my stove with water and its lid closed and there had never been any rust problems. I was determined not to let the new inferior Kitchenaid tea kettle rust, so I always left the lid open when it was not in use. After 19 months of taking this precaution, it no longer worked. I noticed the specks of rust on the fuel line when I filled it up this morning. Kitchenaid's products aren't of high quality, which is regrettable.
I love it and it looks great. As for what I dislike, I ordered it for its "easy clean" feature, but the top of the teapot does not Although I am not officially speaking of build up inside the kettle, I would prefer a kettle I can remove the lid from for thorough cleaning.

I really like this deep red kettle because it matches the décor in Top of handle is the button for the spout to be opened.
