These were the ideal pair of shoes for me. I needed a replacement for my old Pyrex lids, which had cracked after many years of use. Those old lids, on the other hand, could be microwaved (which I did frequently to avoid splattering messes). As you can see in the attached photo, these new ones do not withstand microwave use. The lid is permanently warped after just two minutes in the office microwave. It still fits in the dish, but I'm not going to use it in the microwave!.
Whenever we attempted to remove a red or orange lid, it cracked around the rim. Because none of our blue ones had cracked, I made certain to order these blue ones when we needed to replace the ones that had cracked. They've performed admirably thus far, particularly the smaller ones. Only one of the larger ones has cracked, but the rest have held up well; I would recommend the blue over the red or orange!.
It's total nonsense. After 11 months, I have ten-year-old lids that are in better shape than these. Despite the fact that we almost never microwave these, they are almost all broken on the side, and I recently microwaved one for one minute. It was completely twisted. From a distance, these may appear to be genuine pyrex lids, but when compared to a genuine pyrex lid that came with the glass bowls, it's clear that they're not.
glass bowls in a cup These replacement lids fit my Anchor 4 cup bowls perfectly and appear to be far more durable than the lids that came with the Anchor brand bowls (at a fraction of the cost of the Anchor replacement lids). These lids don't have the "seams" or thin areas along the lip of the lid that used to tear after a few months of use on the Anchor lids. If your bowl is 6-inches in diameter on the outside, These ought to suffice!.
The ones that came with the glass storage bowls were broken, so I ordered new ones. They had split open and were no longer sealed. I also used them to reheat in the microwave, which I assumed caused them to split. So I did neither with this set, instead hand-washing them and reheating them in those glass storage bowls using cheap paper plates. The first one had split after only a few months of use: (And then there were a few more. ).
If you're anything like me, you've amassed an impressive collection of storage pieces as well as an impressive number of lids. Even though you just matched them up two weeks ago when cleaning the drawer, none of them match. br>br>There is one lovely pyrex dish with a lid that fits perfectly. That's been through the dishwasher a few times too many times, and the edge appears to be used as a teeth ring by rats. br>br>Save the day with replacement storage lids! br>br>I bought three sizes of these and can now cover any of my round storage dishes tightly. br>br>Of course, that's when I packed a perfect lunch into one of the rectangular dishes but couldn't find a lid. Sigh. br>br>.
This isn't going to work in the long run. These aren't even close to being of acceptable quality. Two of mine have already shrunk to the point where they are difficult to wrap around the pyrex container's top. As it was in the microwave the first time, one of them got sucked into the bowl; these won't last long. They'll probably crack in a few months. This is what I refer to as Pyrex's "short-term solution" to ensure that you return and purchase full-size Pyrex products. new set pricing (a money grab on their part). Make sure you don't throw your money away. I'll be abandoning pyrex in favor of a more durable container. It's a shame that such a nice glass bowl was thrown away.
At the Corning factory in New York, I got a good deal on some Pyrex bowls ($. 99), but they didn't have lids on them. They're the perfect size for storing leftovers, but I had to wrap them in saggy plastic wrap. These lids were discovered, measured, and purchased, and they perfectly fit. I'm not sure how long they'll last, but I'll be careful with them and grateful for the lids on my bowls.
