Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use it on glass top stoves?

The stove top I use mine on is a glass top model. The only thing you have to be careful of is the weight of the canner, in order to avoid cracking Put it down gently and do not drop or move it too

I need a replacement glass lid. Where can I purchase one?

My ball lid went bad 6 months ago, and I contacted them to replace it - My phone call/email to them was excellent, as they offered to ship me a new lid at no charge. Still no lid or response 6 emails later - I've requested six times and sent 5 phone calls. Due to a lack of motivation, I gave up.

Does the canner have a magnetic field? Can it be used with an induction stove?

Magnets cannot be made of 18/10 stainless, even when the seller claims it is. The metallurgists claim that only lower grades of stainless are magnetic, since 18/10 Stainless Steel is comprised primarily of chrome, nickel, and molybdenum.

Can you tell me if these are made in the United States?

Made in China, however unlike many others who commented upon it, they are in fact of excellent The canner is not only used by me, but also by my mother, and I have used it numerous times to make large batches of soup and sauce. In 2010 or 2011, I purchased mine for a little over $100.

We cannot remove the label due to its sheer size
3/5

My disappointment in this canner is based on the fact that the huge label is impossible to remove and the canner's appearance has been ruined by it. My first step was to wash my hands with hot, soapy water There is nothing to report There was nothing on the label that came off, not even the paper. Alcohol was next on my list. I was able to get the paper label off, but there is some awful glue residue. The next thing I tried was A small amount of help was provided here. the WD-40 did not appear to be effective even after multiple applications Despite washing the rug 40 times, I still can't get off all the glue residue (see the before and after images). Since all of the scrubbing has been done, the exterior is beginning to scratch. It has to be said, the canner worked very well. This is a large, well-heated faucet that keeps water hot for a very long time. There is nothing worse than buying a $100 canner with a cheap, sticky label that will not peel.

This is a dangerous lid! I am very pleased with this A glass cooktop would be perfect with its flat bottom
3/5

Rust is not present on the rack even after a few uses. Despite all these factors, the lid does not have adequate ventilation. The steam cannot escape quickly from this device, so it rattles and makes cracking sounds while in use. My concern that the lid may break caused me to lift the lid away from myself. The lid was rocking back and forth so violently that I thought It was finally possible for the steam to escape, which resulted in my arm being badly burned. The lid should be provided with more venting and with more lip to prevent it from rocking when the lid is tipped open and not permit the stream to escape on all sides when it is tipped open. At the moment, it is dangerous as it This shouldn't be an issue for a purchase that costs over a hundred dollars. Currently, I'm trying a silicone lid lifter to see if it helps, but due to the lack of a lip on the lid, I'm unsure whether that will work.

It has been almost 3 years since I bought this product, but I have only used it twice
3/5

I am disappointed with both the product and the customer service. When I tackled making a pot of soup broth with it this season, I noticed that it was pitted on the inside bottom. During one season, I used it only once for $85 and paid for it once. Hence, it's a must. Ball told me that their products are only covered for one year when I called them. In the future, I will not purchase any more of their products, given my disappointment with their product and customer service.

There is no way to remove this label
4/5

As of yet, I have not used it, but the biggest issue I encountered is the large label that can be difficult My sponge was rough on the rough side, and when I tried soaking I noticed scratches forming. Some goof was getting on my bench and I used the plastic bench scraper to get it cleaned up. This pot is sturdy and looks nice. I am looking forward to using it.

Sauces taste great when made with it
4/5

There is a little frustration, however, about the lid's lack of ventilation, so during boiling there is water spilling out inside between the edge of the lid and the pot. A cooktop with an induction element is used with it. Nothing to worry about. During heating, it gets very hot. In addition to being a canner, it's also used as a pot for spaghetti. Sauces taste great when made with it. However, the rack's rust is starting to show after only an entire season of use. Because of this, we dry it very carefully after using it. The rack was not as good as the pot, so perhaps a little more money should have gone into it.

You can't fit quarts in there? To keep my glass clean and safe, I bought this I use my largest stainless stockpot for half pints of liquid by 1 cup, which does not cover my top stove There is a 2 inch difference
3/5

There are a lot of nice features and appears to be well-designed A complaint has been made, but I am very unhappy with it. My first attempt at canning quarts was yesterday. I used Ball jars, and I assumed you already knew that the rack and canner came from ball. Despite this, the edge of the tops of the jars barely creeps out of the water when they're filled to the brim. Wow, what a mess this is. This is very disappointing that Ball's own canner does not work with their own jars. They could have made it an inch taller and it would have been fine.

I liked the pot a lot
5/5

My old canner didn't fit in my new flat bottom pot with an invection stove, so I had to get a new flat bottom pot. I love to can. In the first pot, the box was extremely dented (but the pot was not damaged). A very small dent was found near the bottom of the second item. A small dent appeared on the pot while I washed it. It was too tempting to throw it away, so I kept it.

It is expensive, but I did buy it so that I can use it for my glass cooktop
3/5

This canner did not perform very well on my stovetop, but this may be due to the age of my stove (purchased around 2000), as I have heard others have used this canner on glass cooktops with some success. There's just no way I can * I purchased this knowing the jar rack might rust, as other reviewers have mentioned. I can tell you the rack does indeed rust, and rust stains will form on the bottom of the canner if you don't remove it and dry it after you use it. plus side, I love the stainless steel with the glass lid and have canned lots of things in this, but I think I'll buy an enamelware canner next time.
