It's true that I bought this kit because it was the cheapest. I was trying out canning at home for the first time and did not want to invest a lot of money into something I didn't know if I would continue doing. My search for small-scale microelectronics turned out to be a success There are a lot of things that can be done with this little kit, and it's more than The new guidelines from Ball/Jarden (boiling lids before capping jars is no longer recommended) and the fact that I have learned not to overtapping jars are two factors that have contributed to this change I rarely use anything other than a jar lifter and funnel when tightening the rings - but they're essential. Wet and hot jars can be reclaimed with this jar lifter, which is sturdy and comfortable to use. In the event that I decide to continue canning, I would probably upgrade from these tools to fancier ones. With the modest volume of canning that I do, I think these tools will last me a good.

The first time I used it, either it broke, or it didn't work. A refund will not be offered by the company. The update is This is amazing! I now have a completely different perspective on the products after I have used them. On its very first use, the jar tongs broke and the tongs didn't grab the lids as well as the magnet was so weak that it barely picked I have a second update for you Even while the company won't go back and refund me for their canning set, and the most important item broke the very first time I used it, and half of the other items didn't work the way they were supposed to. Please be careful.

Though I liked this set a great deal as it was unboxed, I was excited to start canning as soon as possible. As a result, I was disappointed to find that my tongs were rusted. This product will need to be returned so that I can buy a stainless steel set which will do. No matter what set of scissors I get again, I don't think they will last long if they rust and flake after a few uses just like my current set does. This is a complete disappointment, especially after so many.

For the very first time in my life, I got this set to can! It was helpful to have these tools! The fig preserves I made were delicious. While I've never canned anything, I have watched a couple of youtubes to learn how to do it like my grandmother did. As the summer progressed, I put figs from our fig tree in a plastic baggie and placed them in my freezer until I was able to can It's been a long time since I made fig preserves but I found a recipe on Pinterest for Maple Fig Preserves, and they're delicious. There is no way I could be happier with the result. The funnel, tongs for lowering and lifting the jars out of boiling water, the bubble remover/measurer to fill jars exactly to the correct headspace, and the magnetic lid lifter to lift the lids out of the hot water all came in handy. The tool set is now stored in my canner pot, ready for my next canning project. I'm very happy with it.

Tongs of the smaller size are very hard to open. Aside from that, it's a pretty good set for its price.

As I read the box trying to find out if the items could be removed from the dishwasher, I was surprised to find that they were. In none of the signs did handwashing appear to be My dishwasher was filled with everything There are two racks at the top It now has a rusted look to it and the metal pieces are as well discolored. After going through the wash, the hinges are stiffer than before. Even though I am ok with hand washing, it would have been nice to simply be told that it is As for the hinges, I can't really do much about them since everything is cleaned up now.

My collection consists of three sets such as these. set works just as well as my Ball brand set when it comes to durability, and it costs half as much. Just the jar lifter should cost you less than $5. At your local mass market retailer you can purchase a plain white T-shirt for $6. A magnet lid lifter will save you a ton of time and your fingers if you use it when preheating lids as I do. It's a ridiculous little gadget that costs The same retailer should have them for 99 cents IF they do not already There is only one item that doesn't seem to survive the test of time, the plastic funnel, which cracks after a few years no matter who makes it. It is not possible to shatter them. As soon as a crack appears, they are close to becoming unusable. Invest in a stainless steel canning funnel and put a stop to this crazy process. One of my jar lifters is included in the second item. After a couple of years, the soft vinyl packaging has sustained some damage. When it comes to items covered with soft vinyl, I was told not to use dishwashing liquid. As a result, it appears to degrade. Since you plan on using these products for more than a couple of years, I am not sure the "dishwasher safe" claim is quite accurate. If you order it delivered for $7, either way, you'll get your money's worth.

No matter your level of experience or how new you are to canning, this set is perfect. Since I pressure can most of the time, everything is sterilized inside the canner, except the funnel, bubble popper and jar lifter. I use the magnetic lid lifter occasionally, but because everything is sterilized inside the canner during the process. wrench is the tool I sometimes forget to use but it's very handy for hard to open jars.
