I don't believe I've ever written an Amazon review before, but after trying Jade Leaf's ceremonial-grade tea, I felt compelled to do so. matcha of the highest quality br>Here's a quick summary of my thoughts: It's fantastic; go ahead and purchase it; you won't be disappointed. br>The long version of my review is as follows: (Though it essentially sums up the same points as the previous paragraphs). br>br>To begin, a brief description of my tea-making process. So far, I've only had one drink. br>Tea is something I enjoy. Green tea, in particular, is something I enjoy, and I prefer Japanese Sencha. However, I'm a graduate student who eats oatmeal, cereal, and ramen on a daily basis and, as a result, I'm a person who is wary of wasting money. As a result, I try to keep my consumption to a minimum. the- day tea- I'm sipping Kirkland's Ito En green tea bags from Costco (which I genuinely enjoy and believe are excellent in terms of price and quality). br>br>I didn't know much about matcha until I did some research and read several articles extolling its virtues as a health supplement. Then it's up to you. So, I did some more research to learn about matcha's "gradations" (i. e. vs. cooking ceremonial grade, etc. ), the general locations where matcha is produced/grown, and quality standards, among other things. Then, during the course of my zealous internet-surfing, I conducted even MORE research into issues that had been brought up by others. trawling, concerns such as traces of lead found in certain Chinese teas, safety concerns regarding Japanese teas following the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, etc. br>br>In the end, I discovered that Uji, Japan, the source of Jade Leaf's matcha, is the furthest away from the nuclear plant site; According to official reports, there is no trace of radiation in this region's teas. (As an aside, unlike some Chinese teas, Japanese tea growers are very good at screening for heavy metals and other contaminants like lead, so we're all safe there. ) )br>br>So, armed with the full force of Google and countless hours of reading, I scoured Amazon and other commercial sites for the best matcha I could find, balancing my desire for quality against the necessity of a reasonable price, and finally, I discovered. Leaf of Jade! Organic, ceremonial-type food grade matcha from Japan, grown in the Uji district, one of the farthest locations from any possible radiation exposure (with the lack/absence of such radiation confirmed by official reports I'd read ahead of time). When I placed my order, I was overjoyed at the discovery and hoped for the best. br>br>The matcha came in at number four. I received my order 5 days after placing it, in a cute little tin with a pull-string closure. To preserve the freshness of the matcha, use the tab to keep the bagged matcha tightly sealed within the container. I removed the pull-tab from the tin after unscrewing the lid. I was greeted by a surprisingly sweet and subtly grassy/vegetal aroma, as well as the sight of a fairly vividly green matcha, when I opened the bag containing the matcha. br>br>After I'd prepared it (again, with the help of Google and, this time, Youtube!) ), and I was blown away. It had a distinct flavor. GOOD. Well, at least for tea. Don't expect it to taste like chocolate cake or anything (trust me, I made it for a friend who was expecting one of those commercialized Starbucks pseudo-cakes). green tea concoctions, which caused me to stare at him as if he were insane). Both the Jade Leaf and the Kenko Matcha Green Tea Powder were purchased. Both are ceremonial grade Matcha, which is the purest form of Matcha available. Both come from small Japanese family farms and have undergone extensive radiation testing. With a price of $23, Jade Leaf is a bit cheaper. For 30G, the price is $95 With a price tag of $27, Kenko is a bit more expensive. It costs $99 for 30 grams. The tea powder in Kenko is a brighter green with a slightly sweeter flavor. Jade Leaf has a slightly darker color and is less sweet. I enjoy both equally and switch between the two types of tea. After a long time of drinking espresso coffee, I've converted to Matcha tea. Without the jitters, the clean refreshing "buzz" keeps me alert for hours. Also L- The amino acid theanine, which is mostly found in teas, promotes relaxation and stress reduction while also increasing concentration and alertness. This tea allows me to code for hours. Traditional ceremonial teas are packaged in airtight light tin containers. To keep them fresh and cold, store them in the refrigerator. br>br>Inside the tin, Jade Leaf had a sealed bag of powder tea. After cutting the bag open, pour the tea into the tin. By double packing, I believe they took extra precautions to ensure freshness. Kenko arrived with the tea in a tin that was loose. It wasn't even close to being double-packed. It had no impact on the flavor or freshness. Jade Leaf followed up with me via email to see if everything had arrived safely and if I was enjoying the tea. They also sent me coupons that I could use on my next purchase. This is a nice addition. When vendors take the time to do this, I appreciate it. Kenko emailed me to see if everything was okay, but they didn't include any coupons for future purchases. Overall, I enjoy both of them. br>br> If I had to choose only one next time, I would choose Kenko because I prefer the slightly sweeter flavor; however, I would recommend purchasing both as I did and conducting your own taste test comparison. These are two of the best Matcha teas on the market, and I wouldn't waste my money on anything else. Both of these teas are made to the highest standards, with a focus on quality and taste, and they buy from small family farms, which I appreciate. I ordered the jade leaf matcha green tea ceremonial grade and was expecting the container, but it did not arrive. I only got a non-resealable bag as a result of my efforts. Because the photo and label on the 30g tin are very misleading, I included a picture of what you should expect. I had previously ordered this company's culinary grade matcha, which arrived in better condition.

I've had this brand of matcha before and enjoyed it. It had a bright green color, an earthy aroma, and a sweet taste, but my previous order experience was less than ideal. When I first opened my new matcha tin, I noticed that it was a dark green, almost brown color. That should have been enough to deter me from trying it, but I did. This matcha had a stale and unpleasant taste to it. Matcha is expensive, and this item is non-returnable, so I'm very disappointed. In the future, I'm guessing I'll try a different brand.
